SUBJECT:RECOGNITION OF FIVE YEAR CLEAN BAY BUSINESSES
(VEHICLE SERVICE FACILITIES)
REQUEST
The purpose of this report is to inform Council about the eighty-seven local vehicle service
facilities which have been Clean Bay Businesses each and every year of the Regional
Water Quality Control Plant’s (RWQCP) Clean Bay Business program. Since the program
began in 1992, each qualifying business is being recognized as a "Five Year Clean Bay
Business."

This report is for informative purposes only.

None.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Clean Bay Business program for vehicle service facilities was first implemented in
1992. Each year, the ’RWQCP recognizes local vehicle service shops that are fully
implementing water pollution prevention measures as "Clean Bay Businesses (CBBs)."
Since this past year was the fifth year of the program, a special five-year recognition for
those shops that have been a CBB each and every year of the program is underway. Out
of a total of 326 vehicle service facilities in the RWQCP service area, 87 shops achieved
recognition as a CBB all five years of the program. These exemplary shops deserve a very
special thanks for their commitment to keeping their workplace clean and for reducing
pollutants to San Francisco Bay.
In addition to the annual CBB recognition advertising and decals, five-year Clean Bay
Businesses are being announced in the local newspapers and each will receive a special
