ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.30.060(a) AND 2.30.070(a),
JANUARY THROUGH MARCH 1998
This is an information report and no Council .action is required.
BACKGROUND
Palo Alto Municipal Code (PAMC) sections 2.30.060 and 2.30.070, subsections (a)
authorizes the City Manager to award contracts for the purchase of supplies regardless of the
dollar amount; and for services up to $65,000. In late December 1997, the PAMC was
amended to change the Council reporting requirements for contracts awarded by the City
Manager. Effective January 1998, quarterly reports are required for supply contracts over
$65,000 instead of the previous requirement to report contracts over $25,000. In addition,
quarterly reports are also required for service contracts with amounts ranging from $25,000
to $65,000. The attached report lists all supply purchases over $65,000 and service contracts
from $25,000 to $65,000 from January 1998 through March 1998, respectively.
The last quarterly report (CMR: 176:98) provided information on blanket orders issued for
the period July 1996 through December 1997. It was unknownat the time the report was
issued that closed orders had been dropped from the accounting system. These orders,
previously not reported, have been included as a separate attachment to this report.
