The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in regular ses-
this date at 8 p.m., with Mayor +hoi tes presiding. Roll
follows:
Bertsche, :lair, Cathcart, Cooley, Easterday, Jordan,
Roller, Snyder, Swain, Terwilliger, Thoits.
Miller, Peterson, Tnomas.
The minutes of the regular meeting of May 10th and of
the called meeting of June 8th, 1920, were read and approved
as read.

A •petition from tyre Palo Alto Community Center Athletic
Association for permission to receive cash contributidns from
attendants at Community Center games ae read. On motion of Jor-
dan, seconded by Cathcart, the matter vas referred to the Commun-
ity Center Commission with power to act.
As to Sale of Refreshments.
Rev. Bryant C. Preston, president of the Community Cen-
ter Athletic Association., presented a letter from Ors. Edith W.
Maddux, president of the Community Center Commission, relative
to the sale of refreshments on the Community Center grounds.
On motion of Jordan and Cathcart said matter was referred to the
Community Center Commission for decision, said Commission to re-
port to the, Council if its members so desire.
As to Employment of Stanford 3a d for Concerts.
A communication was received from a committee of the
Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce, E. A. hsttinizer, chairman, report-
ing that the Stanford Band could be engaged to give nine open-
air concerts during July and August for the sun of $675.0°, but
making no recommendation.
Swain moved that tte Chamber of Commerce be advised that
in the present condition of the city funds an appropriation for
such purpose is hot deemed expedient. The motion was seconded
by Cooley and passed.

Committee #1 reported Ordinance #207 for passage and
Committee #2 reported Ordinance #208 for passage.

A resolution, entitled "Resolution Declaring a Certain
Trust on Property Conveyer" to the City of Palo Alto" was read
and on motion of Snyder and Rolle: action deferred by unanimous vote

Rules and Regulations for Bathers Using the Yunicipa'. Swimming
Pool," was given first reading and referred to Committee 7i2.
Repents of Officials,
The report of the Department of Public Works for April
and the reports of the Auditor, Treasures, and Community Center
Commission for May, were received and ordered filed.

Mayor Thoits reported that he had been absent from the
city during the past $ eek and that Councilman Swain had kindly

acted as Mayor during that time.

Mayor Thoit,o reported that he had appointed Miss Grace
C. Camp a member of the Community Center Comm.iss ,on, vice Miss
Ivy Davies, resigned. On motion of Jordan and Bert the the ap-
pointment was confirmed.

On motion of Swain and Cooley the following claims were
allowed and warrants authorized in payment of the same:

As to Tri ine; High Hedes.
Councilman Blair called attention to the danger caused
by the high hedges along Embarcedero road, which make it impossi-
ble for autos to be seen on approaching corners.
On motion of Snyder and Jordan the matter was referred to
the Board of Public Safety and the City Attorney,

Councilman TerwilligFer mowed that the Mayor appoint a
committee of three (of which the Mayor shall be one) to craft
resolutions of respect to the memory of the Rev. Waiter Hays.
The motion was seconded and passed.
The Mayor named 1 - Clay Miller and L.-"'erwi "llige.r as
such committee.
