The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in regular ses- this date at 8 p.m., with Mayor Thoits presiding. Poll follows: Blair, Easterday, Miller, Snyder, Swain, Thoits, Thomas, Wing. Bertsc he, Cathcart, Cooley, Jorda' , Peterson, Roller, Terwilliger. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 12, 1920, were read and approved as read. San Jose Celebration of Ju Fourth A communication was read from the City Manager of San Jose asking that a committee be appointed to confer with e San Jose committee in regard to .holding a Fourth of July r celebration on in San Jose. r �r i On motion of Miller and Swain the Mayor was au t crized to name such a committee. The Mayor appointed Mr. Wing. Purchase of Seale 'da terworks Referred , A report was received from the Board of :Public Works, recommending that the City purchase the Seale Waterworks at the price suggested in the reports of the City Engineer, submitted to the Council. On motion of 'Ving and Swain the matter was referred to Com.#4 investigate and report and also to report on the method of finane- ing such purchase. Service Station Leases: For Three Years. In the matter of insurance for the auto bus station, on motion of Snyder and Blair it was ordered that no insurance be carried. Reconsiders Resignation. Mr. Miller asked an expression as to whether Mr. Swain would accede to the request of the Council that he withdraw his resignation as Councilman. Mr. Swain thanked the Council for its kindly expressions of appreciation and stated that as his professional duties would be less than he had anticipated he would be pleased to withdraw his resignation.
