A communication was received from t..e Affiliated -.,Imrobers
of Commerce and Civic Organizations of the Peninsula, askinE that
the Council endorse a.peta.tion requesting the Southern Pacific Coo-
pany to electrify its lines between San Francisco and San Jose.
0n motion. of Snyder. and Cor'oet the communication was
on the table.
Thoits .moved that a petition be forwarded to said Cor I^r..
requesting- that the Peninsula Lines be modernized and improved
to the fullest extent within the ability of the company. The
motion was seconded by Snyder and passed.

recommending. (1) that a budget . appropriation of $600 for the
Cor ission be made; (2j that the E uhares, dero be widened betwee ,

be made: in order to save the ia.d along the creek, and the

aver the auto ca=p grounds at Runnymede under lease and pay the costs,
incurred in fitting up the same.:'
The City Attorney, expressed doubt as to the legal right of
the Council to expend .money for this purpose.in another county,
where it would have no right to' enforce the city ordinances.
On motion of Corbet and Snyder the recommendation was re-
jected.

A delegation of colored, citizens appeared before the Coon
cif .o protest against the exhibition at t_ e Varsity theatre of a
film entitled The, Clansman."
The matter was 'discussed by : members of
� the Advisory Board
on Commercial Amusement, and ;the statement was made that the pro. prietor of the theatre had expressed his :vi;llingnees to withdraw
; he filmrilm if it shouldbe so desired.
Corbet moved that in view of ,
