On motion of Thefts and Cooley, action on this was deferred 'ant': the City Attorney, City Engineer and Board of Works have drawn up the lease and bring it before the Council. Kelly moved that the Board of Works be requested to negotiate:for a limitation of the lease so as to give the City possession of 112 feet of the land back from the State Highway. This motion was seconded by Bertsche and carried. Ordinance R latinR- to Par4ps e ergency An/ordinance amending `ection No. 101 of Article X, Part III, of the Codified Ordinances, which fixes the parking limit on University Avenue between the Circle and Cowper Street , and on Emerson Street between University Avenue and Hamilton Avenue at one hoar, was read. It was moved by Mrs. Duveneck and seconded by Thoits that the ordinance be adopted. The ordinance was lost as an emergency ordinance on roll call, all, voting Aye except »rs. Thomas and Kelly, who voted. io. This ordinance was then referred to Committee .uo. 2 for consideration and report. The City Attorney was requested to consider what changes might be made in the ordinances concerning <the power of the Board of Safety in regard to traffic and :parking regulations. Ordinance :;o. 333 Pwssed Ordinance No. 333, relating to registration of guests at hotels, tenements and rooming houses, was given second reading. The words "police officers of the city" in the last line of %ec Uiort 1 were changed to read "Chief of Police or his authorized agent". A letter was received from the Standard Gil Company, enclosing an ordinance which they had prepared, reTaesting permission to locate a warehouse and other buildings near the Mayfield Depot. This was referred to Committee No. 1 and the Board of Works. Report on Hospital A report was read from Dr. George B. .'2,oilers, Physic.... Superintendent of Stanford University hospital., and City ngir.eer, concerning improvements to the Palo Alto hospital. This report was referred to Committees No. 1 and 4, to be considered in conjunction with the request of physicians of Palo Alto for a bond issue of ,$100,000 for additions to the present hospital, which was referred to said con.nittees several months ago.
