The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this
date at $ Z7.. m. , pursuant to adjournment of August 10, 1925, tith
Mayor Jordan presiding. Roll call as follows:

On recommendation of the Board of Public Works, the
contract, for the improvement of University Avenue was awarded to
the 'Warren Confetruct5oh" Company of Oakland at .their bid of
75,610.32. R-esolu;tion No. 430 awarding this contract was
adopted ,by unanimous vote on roll call.
In accordance with the recommendation of the Board
of Public Worke, the contract for storm water sewers was awarded
to W. 3 Tobin, at his bid of 421, 787.35, and by unanimous vote
on roll elan, resolution Ivo. 431 awarding said contract was
adopted. "

tothe bonds for street assessments in the Mayfield District,
drawing attention to the fact that such bonds were blanket
assessments and could not be segregated to the different lots
composing the parcels of land bonded, and also suggesting a
method by which in accordance with law these assessments could be
segregated to; particular lots. The City Attorney was directed
to prepare the necessary papers.
As to Renaming Streets
The City Planning Commission was requested by
Council/to consider the question of renaming certain streets in
Mayfield and to report as soon as possible to the Council.

Concerning Telephone fires
Wisdom addressed the Council requesting that
the telephone wires and conduits be laid und.ergro',:nd. on
University, Avenue above Waverle7 Street. Mr. Widom was informed
that thismatter would;; be taken:under consideration.
Concern: Lai$ .a d Cs�ts
Uri Seale Addressed the Council on the matter of
stray dogs and cats, .,stating that the president of the Humane
Society was giving the city service in caring for this matter,
and requesting that she be relieved from this voluntary service.
The Council requested. the Board of Public Safety to submit a
budget for the establishment and maintenance of a public pound.
Concerning 'olice Headouarters
Mr. Seale also addressed. the Council on the matter
and need of police headquarters and an improved jail. By Notion
of Wing and Cathcart, the Board of Works was requested to
prepare plans and estimates on police t eadouarters and jail that
will fit in with future development of thecity park site

It was directed that when the Council adjourn it
adjourn to meet in the City Fall on August 27, I92 ., at 8 p. m.,
and it was directed that the docket for the Council meeting at
that time, August; 27th, should include appointments to be made
for the convents c,n of the League of California r unic ipaliti es.
