^he Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this
date at 8 P. M•, pursuant to adjournment of August 9, 1926, with
Mayor Hobart presiding. Roll call as follows:
Present: Bertsche, Bonn, Cooley, Duveneck, Easterday, Hobart
Jordan, Kelly, Lausten, Thoits, Thomas, Wood. '
Absent: Cathcart, Cottrell, Wing-.
Concernir_z ur.icj- i Band.
Mr. T. E. Hyde addressed the Council concerning the
matter of an appropriation of .1800.00 per year fora municipal
band. He stated that Prof. Martin, Director of the Stanford
Band, had proposed that the Palo Alto Band wear the same kind of
uniforms as the Stanford Band, and that the two bands could
practice together and be combined into one large bard on various
occasions to represent Palo Alto and Stanford. Mrs. G. Ostrander,
Mr. W. L. Peet, kr. Hettinger, :r. McClellan, Director of the
band, and others addressed the Council on this matter also.

the proposed budget for 1926-1927 and explained it in detail.

and September.. This motion was seconded by Mrs. Thomas and

On motion of Mrs. Thomas and Jordan, the matters in
connection with a, municipal band were referred to the Community
Center Commission for investigation and report at the regular
September meeting.

reading.
Ir. T. F. Hyde addressed the Council, expressing the
appreciation and thanks of the Matade ro Mosquito Abatement
District forthe assistance given them by the city health
department.
