M., pursuant to adjournment of June 28, 1926, with Mayor Jordan presiding. Roll call as follows. Present: Bertsche Bonn, Cooley, Duveneck, Easterday, Hobart, Jordan, r.elly, Lausten, Molts, Thomas, Wood:. Absent: Cathcart, Cottrell, Wing. Appointment of O±fic 1 1s The Council proceeded to the appointment of officials for the ensuingg year, Bonn and Zelly oeing appointed tellers by the Mayor. Appoi it:nents were: made as follows; E. L. Beach, City Clerk and Assessor F. V. Perirg, City Auditor H. 1'. Congdon, Treasurer i�. P1_. M.ai colm, City Attorney E. D. La4in, Police Judge la. A. ' eszail, Tax Collector Emma Meyers, Deputy Tax Co:;.1ector Louis Olsen, Office Manager J. B. Buchanan, 2archasing Agent Election of Mayor The Council then proceeded to the election of a mayor. On the first ballot Jordan received 9 votes, Thomas 1 vote and :Hobart 2 votes. Mr. Jordan thanked the Council for nis re-election but stated that it would be impossible for him to accept it, and asked that the Council, ballot again for Mayor. Three more ballots were take,, and on the last ballot, Hobart received 10 notes and Mrs. • Thomas and Thoits 2. vote each, and Hobart was declared elected Mayor for the coning year. Mr. Hobart took the chair and thanked the Couii l for the honor of the election. ?enort from Bos.rd of Vor4:; A report was received from the Board of = ubl ic; Works recommending that the claim of the Jasper -Stacy Company, which has been lorag past due, for r eimoursement of ;12,000 p:Lus for installation of water mains in Southgate, be paid out of funds avatilableland that 1ater this sum be reiarnoursed to the fund from which it was taken from the sale of bonds of the '4200, 000 bond is sae .. On motion of Cooley and Easterday, this amount was transferred from the, General Fund to the Oat Yr Bond Fund of 1926 and the .Board of Works was autnoriz ed to pay the bill, this sum,be reimbursed later to the fund from which it was taken from the sale of ‘bonds of the 4200, 000 bond issue. He ort of Cornrittee No. b On motion of belly and Cooley, the report of Committee ;No. 5 approving entries for closing the books for the fiscal year ending June a0, 1926, was adopted. Assessment Roils Submitted The Assessor submitted the assessment roll for the year 1926-1927;, together with block books and maps. On motion of Xelly and Cooley, ,the Clerk was directed to publish a notice that said assessment roll will be open to the inspection of the public, and that the Council will meet as a Board of Zrua1ization on Monday, August 2, 1926, at 10 L. M. in the City Hall. Conc wr ninfr SprinklinR System The City Engineer reported that the contract for the sprinkbing system for the hospital is ready to be signed and that work on same will probably be started within a week. Concerning Contract with Humane Society Chairman Seale of the Board of Safety addressed the C,ounci.l, .stating that the Board of Safety is ready to enter into a contract with the humane Society, in wricn the city is asked to furnish $2OOOkOO for the expenses of maintaining a public pound., and re nested that this amount be appropriated for said purpose. Mir. -Sea;l e was informed that this amount should be included in the budget ot the Board of Safety and submitted to the budget committee.
