L, pursuant to adjournment of June 21, 1926, Mayor Jordan presiding. Boll call as follows: Present« Bertsche, Bonn, Easterday, Robart, Jordan, i el1y, Laasten, Thoits, T.nomas, Wood. Absent: Cathcart, Cooley, Cottrell, Duver.eck, Wing. Hearing on Street Widening The :isyor announced that this was he time set for hearing protests against the widening of California and Cambridge Avenues, Second. Street, and opening en alley in the Mayfield -District, as propbsea. by Resolution o•f Inten.tion No. 488. Written protests were read from the Southern Pacific Company, Liberty Bank and 14 other signers, Edna M. 0arrigu a, and -Sadie; Phillips and 67 other signers, and were marked Exhibits A, B, C and D, respectively. A protest from the Libe;rt.Barak and others dated April 7, 1926, wasnot considered,., as it was received previous to the p assage of the Resolution of Intention. • The Council was addressed on this atter by H. W. Hobbs, Attorney for the Southern Pacific Company; Mr. Eustace Cul:linan, Attorney and Secretary of the Liberty Bank; Miss Edna M. Garr&gas, and M.r. Walter 3. Davis. Mr. A. B. Clark, representing the Planning Commission, also addressed the Council. Mr. Hobbs, in presentixg the protest of the Southern Pacific Company, claimed that the matter of widening the crossing ,would have to be referred to the Railroad Commission. A motion was made by Councilman Thoits that the protest of the Southern Pacific Company, marked"rx:hibit A", be overruled, but on advice of the City Attorney who wished to look '.p the law on the matter, this motion was withdrawn. On motion of Wood and Bertsche, the matter of the protests and the resolution ordering the work were referred to the City Attorney and. Committee Igo. 1, to report at the next regular meeting in July. Letter from T. P. H de A letter was received from W. P. Hyde, Secretary of the Matadero Mosquito Abatement District, suggesting that Colonel W . K. Jones be substituted for Professor E. W. Doane as a representative of Palo Alto as Trastee of the Matadero Mosquito Abatement. District, as Prof. Doane has moved outside the city. limits. Report of Committee No.4 A report was received from Committee No. 4, recommending that $6250.00 be transferred from the Water Fund to the Bond Redemption Fund for redemption and interest on Water Bonds of 1926, due 'Tune 1, 1927.
