It was -reported that copies of the minutes of the meeting of : Jul y 25 y 1927 , had been sent to each member. On mot.Ion of.Cottrell and Bertsche, the minutes of said meeting were approved. Nearing" on. -Change in Setback Lines It:was announced that tds was the time for a • hearing on the recommendation of the City Planning Commission to change the setback line on the northerly line of the property of R. M. Sullivan on. Palo Alto Avenue in Block 51 to 11 feet, to change the setback ' line on the northeast corner of Waverley 6treet and Addison Avenue in Block 62, the setback line to be staggered in accordance with the method of the .City ;7:ngireer, and to change the setback line in Block 90 to 40 feet on Cowper Street and 25 'feet on Melville Avenue. A prot;est was received from Raymond M. Stager against change of setback line on the corner of Addison. Avenue and WaverleynStreet in ,Block 62. On motion of Cottrell.. and Berta.che,, this mats er "was referred back to the Planning Commission fbr cans:iderat,on and report upon this protest. Mr. E. S. Erwin, Auditor of Stanford University, addressed the Council with reference to a request foe refund taxes on certain property owned by Stanford University in the Mayfield District. The City Engineer explained that this recommendation as made because of the fact that certain property 'owners on these ,streets were unable to pay for the street work in advance an& preferred tomakke the payments over a period'`,of ten years. On motion of Wing and Hoge, the recommendation of /.the- Board. of v orks r,,as :adopted, and the City Attorney was instructed to ;prepare- the necessary procedure so that the city may be 'able to bid on this work, and the City Engineer was directed to prepare -the Plans and specifications.. Mr. 0. G. Saunders, representing the local carpenter's organization, addressed -the Council asking when the report of the City Engineer in answer to Mr. Troy=s letter concerning the city power plant would be made. -. The City Engineer replied that his report is nearly- completed' and would be referred to the Board of works at its next meeting. Report of Gozmnitt N .o 1 A report was received -from Committee No. . 1 recoMmend1ng that the Board of Works bey authorized to negotiate with the Pacific Gas and Electric ;Company. with a view to purchasing their gas, light and power, distributing systems in Mayfield. On motion of Wing and Bertsche, the Board of Works was so authorized. Broderiek:is preparing a report on this matter but did not think it would be ready in September, as he is :busy with several other reports also.
