The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this
date at 8 P. M., s - x -rd-; ; -o'f--;-wk-e-2Ge;- -1927 with
Mayor Hobart presiding Roll call as follows:
Present: Bonn,: Christensen, Cottrell., Hobart, Hoge,
Jordan, Kelly, Lausten, Thoits, Thomas, tidhis1er.
Absent: Bertsche, Cathcart, Wing, Wood;.
Election of? Mayor
The Council, proceeded to the election of a Mayor
for the fiscal ;;year 1927.1928. Mrs. Thomas and Jordan were
appointed tellers. On the first ballot Hobart received
6 votes, Cottrell 2 votes, and Jordan, Thoits and Bertsche 1
vote each. On` the second ballot Hobart received 7 votes,
Cottrell 3 votes and Thoits 1 vote. 0n the third ballot
Hobart received 8 votes, Jordan, Thoits and Cottrell 1 vote each
Hobart having received a majority of the votes was declared
elected Mayor. Sir. Hobart thanked the Council for the election
and for the courte:sy, and cooperation that he has received during
the past year.
Elections
The Council . proceeded to ballot for the election
of a member of�-the'Board of Works, vice Chas. D. Marx, whose
term expired June 30,: 1927. prof. Marx was unanimously re-
elected.
A, ballot fora Member of the Board of Safety, vice
Dr. H. M. Slater, whose term expired June 30, 1927, was taken.
Dr. Slater received a'unanimous vote for re-election.
The Council then balloted for the elect Lon
member of the Library' Board, viceM. R. Kirkwood, whose
expired June 30., 1927. Mr. Kirkwood was re-elected by

The : appointment of .2 members on the Community -
Center Commission, vice 'N. L. Peet and Katherine .gay;. the
appointment of a :fiber of the Council on the CommunityCenter;
Commission vice, Mrs. Duveneck; and the appointment of 4 members
to the Advisory Board =on Commercial Amusements, vice Mrs. E.
W. ' Martin, ors:: R.V.D. CorDUt, Rev. Oscar Green and Col. Wei.
K Jones, were .deferred until; the next meeting, at the 'request.
of the Mayor.

The; Council then proceeded to the appointment of
officials for the. new .fiscal year. Appointments were :lade as

City Attorney. was, created as of the beginballot
of this fiscal
year, by unanimous ;vote on roll call. A allo t was then taken
for the election of a Deputy City Attorney. Leon T. David
received the unanimous vote of the Council and was declared
elected.
Assessment Rol Submitted
report• was received from the City Assessor.

with. block: books and maps. On motion of Kelly and Cottrell,
the. Clerk was directed to publish a notice in -the Palo Alto
Tithes what ::the assessment rolls will be open to the inspection
of the public: during the month of July, and that the Council
will meet as a' Board of Equalization on :Monday, August 3., 1927,
at 10 A.. M. in the City. Hall.
