Concerning Black Case
A communication was received from the City Attorney
relating to -the case of •331ack vs. the southern Pacific Company end
members of the City Council, Board of ''Torks and City Engineer of
the City of -Palo Alto,- which has been set for trial in the Superior
'Court beginning November 5, 1928, and requesting an appro»riation
to meet. the expenses -in connect .on with this trial, including jury
fees and mj leage,, reporter's fees and transcript, witness fees
and incidental expenses. A report was receives: from fro: Committee No.
4 recommending that a sum not to exceed $1000.00 for this purpose
be taken from the contingent fund. On Notion of Wing •and Pertschre,
•the report of the committee was adopted. by unanimous vote on roll
call.
Report of Planning Commission
A report was received from. the City Planning Commission
recommending that all of those, r,o_rt4ons of Blocks 14 and 19 no':, it
the first and second residential zones be changed to third
residential zone. It was announced that a hearing would be held
on this matter at twee next regular meeting of the Council on
November 13, 1928, at 8 p. m., and the Clerk was directed to make
the necessary publications for such hearing.
Referring tp the offer of the Palo Alto Realty Company
for the sale of a tongue of land at Middlefield Road and Palo Alto
Avenue, the Planning Commission reported to the Council that it
