Absent: Jordan, Lausten, Thomas, t bisler,- wing, Wood 4 It was reported that copies of the minutes of the meeting of September 11, 1928, had been sent to each member of the Council and on motion .:the: minutes of said meeting were sooroved. Hearing on Assessments. (Stanford Ave.) - It was- announcedthat this was the time for a hearing on the assessment roll for _the .improvement of Stanford Avenue, under Resolution of :Intention lio ., 584. The . Clerk reported, that no written protests -had :been- received. The City Attorney stated that Kirkbriee and Gordon, attorneys „for the contractor, wished to nave this matter deferred as .:they, were not quite satisfied with the assessment roll. On:.motion of Thoits and Christensen, the_hearing was continued until the regular ?meeting on October 8, 1928. Petition for. Annexation A petition signed by 26 property owners in. Monroe Park Subdivis.ion, petitioning,that this subdivision be annexed to the City of Palo Alto, was received. ,As the petition was not presented in the proper form, it was ,referred to the City Attorney to communicate with the' signers of the petition. Letter ,from Mrs. Gilles ie A communication was receivers from Mary C. Gillespie concerning injuries: she received on. June 1, 1928 in falling ors,: .amilton. Avenue . in front .of. the post office, requesting the Council to make a careful investigation as to the cause o f the accident, and enclosing bills>. for medical services which she requested be paid by the City. On motion of Thoits and Hobart, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a forma;L complaint in accordance, with the recommendation of the _Railroad Commission and the Mayor was authorized, to execute the same for the City of Palo Alto. Resolution from Twenty-`,ihirty Club A copy of resolution adopted by the Twenty-hirty Club Iy concerning ,: the Palo Alto- Hospital was received and referred to the Special Hospital Committee. Cuthbertson for refund of taxes ,paid by him since 1923 on property now owned by the city, Gomznittee Rio . l'reported that this is an involved matter with comp1ications,.and that until these matters are settled and Cambridge Avenue is widened, it is not feasible for the Council to take action. On motion of Thoits and Christensen, this matter was laid on the table. Report of ComMittee No. 2 A. report .was received from Committee No. 2 recommending that the proposed ordinance relating to pedestrian traffic and the proposed ordinance on ccntrol of dogs be adopted by the Council. On motion of Hobart and Christensen, consideration of these ordinances was deferred until the next meeting a•sepo.rt of Committee No. 5 A report, was received from Committee. No. 5 recommending that a refund of $79.17 be made to R. =. Nelson on license tax for operation oi' bus line to the Veterans Hospital. On motion of Cottrell and...Kelly, this refund was allowed by unanimous vote on roll call. Referring to the letter from theCardinal Hardware Company concerning the purchase of materials by the city, Committee No .5 xeported that the City purchases from the lowest bidder, quality considered, and that it will buy frox any fire meeting the ;recuirements .
