HomeMy WebLinkAbout08291928City Hall, Palo Alto, California, August,• 29, 1928. the -Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this date at 8 p. .ra., in pursuance of re3olutionspassed on August 13, 1928, fixing this date as the- ,time for hearing protests in. the matter of improvement of the westerly half of Newell Road and improvement of streets in Mayfield. iayor Hoge presided, :Roll call as follows: Present: ,Bertsche, Christensen Hobart, iroge, Ke11y,Lauste', 'hits, Wing, Wood, Absent= Cathcart. Cottrell, Jordan, Thomas, Whisler. the Mayor stated that a copy of the minutes of the meeting of August 13th had been sent to each Council member, and he would entertain a motion to -approve them. Mr.. Kelly stated that the entry in the minutes as recorded on page 254 just above the subject l'i'sospital. Budget", which entry states t°o-n notion of Thoits and Wood- it was directed that copies of such proposed ordinances x e sin to zoning .matters be sent to each, Council 'member'', was in error as the motion, Although made, had not been voted upon. After discussion ,._ a motion was •mada by Wing and Bertsche that the minutes of August '13th_as. recorded be approved, except. that the words near he- middle of page 254, "on motion of Thoits and ,'good it was: alr_ected: that copies of such proposed ordinances relating to zoning':tatters ,be Sent to each council member" -be not approved, And be: s"trikeil. fr :zn the record.' Hearing on Paving of Newell Road it was 'anno:anced that this was the time appointed for a hearing on r^esolutior --of ;l; ,t,ention No. 681 for the improvement of the -westerly -One-half of. News 1 Road. The City Clerk reported .that no protestsh;ad been received or filed. There was no one present who wished to Lbe heard on the matter, and the hearing was Resolution No,. 634, ordering the work under Resolution of intention No . 681, relating to the improvement of Newell Road, as' read . Hearing .on : Improvement of Streets in .Bartley. Tract The `Ma.yar announced that this was also the time appointed for a hear n ~'on. Reso1zxtion.:o,f Intention No. 683 for- improvement of Third Street, .lwaggari.ta Avenue, .t ataeero Avenue and Wilton: Avenue, in the Bartley Tract. The Clerk reported that no protests had _been received. There was :o one :resent who wished to be heard on the matter, and the hearing` was closed. On motion of 3ertsche and Wing, the Council adopted by unanimous vote a -resolution accepting a weed of trust from the Pacific Gas and ;:1ec-tric' Company to s strip of land 10 feet in width for thewideri,.ng of the roadway of Newell toad, this particular parcel being described in an indenture made by and between the W'el1s r'argo' Bank and`Union Trust Company, and the Pacific Gas and; Electric. Company. A resolution was also adopted by unanimous vote on roll call accepting a deed of:trust from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to a strip of land 10 fe t in width for the widening of Ne el Road, thisparticular parcel being described in an indenture lade by and -between the American Trust Company and the Pacific Gas and Electric Co ,any. The. Council also adooted, by unanimous vote on roll call, a resolution accepting a deed of trust from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to a strip of land 10 feet in width for the widening of Newell:Road, this particular parcel being described in an indenture made by and between the Bankers Trust Company and the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
