The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in , special
session on this date at 8 F. Y., with Mayor :loge presiding,
pursuant to the following call of the Mayor:

special meeting of the Council of the City of Palo Alto, to
convene at the Council Chamber in the City Hall of Palo Alto
at the hour of 8 P. M., Friday, July 16, 1928, for the purpose
of taking the ;necessary steps to provide for a proper home
welcoming to the honorable ierbert Hoover on his entry into
Palo Alto on: the afternoon of rrioay, July 20, 1928`t.
Roll call' as follows:

±. ., was discussed. The estimated cost :or decorating the
street' -s was considered. The Mayor stater:, that tre cost for
decorating University Avenue w :s estis7_ated to be $2030.00, and
that, the merchants expected to expene 41000.0'0 for tnls purpose
and bapeo. that the laity would appropriate the re—nainder..
1nthe general discussion which followed, it was the
opinion of tho:.Council that both entrances to the city at .:,to
highway should be decorated :in an approor' a t e manner, includ'ng;

between, the Circle and the righway, wricb would take an
additional sum.
'0n motion' of Bonn and. Wood, an appropriation not to
exceed 4.2000.00. Was made from the contingent fund, by unari,ro is
vote on roll call, for the purpose of providing sUitan1e
decorations in connection with the homecoming of Herberthoover
on July 20th and the notification of his nomination or:.

On motion of Christensen and 7,auston, it -a.: directed
that the city eM pioyees be given a half hdiliday on .the afternoon
of Ju y 0thp -and it was suggested by the Council that the
merchants and the city in ;general observe iris occasion ,;.r a

Concerning Aviation School
A report was .received from the Board of ,Safety
concerning the, pro teats against the operation of the Palo Alto
