July 9, 1928. -
The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in regular
session on this date, at 8 P. M., with Mayor Hoge presiding.
Roll, call as ,follows:
Present:: 3ertsche, .Christensen, Hobart, Hoc,e Jordan,
Kelly,: 1,austen , Thoiis, 'T'homas, 'rYhis1er.
Absent: :Bonn , Cathcart, Cottrell, 'king,
It was reported that copies of the minutes of the
meetings of June 28th -and. July 2, 1928, had' been .sent to each
member, of the Council. On motion of Jordan and 3ertsche, the
minutes -of -said meetings were approved.
Award of Contradt
it -Wa5 announced that the special order of• the day
was the award 2 'contr:r.c t for tneimprovement of Chanringg Avenue,
'Lincoln Avenue and..,Guinda Street, under resolution, of Intention
No 655.
A repo:r t tiaras received from the City Engineer.
recosmmend ng.that the award be made to the lowest bidder, the
':estern Paving Company, at the cost of irJ3,753'.69-. A report
was also received from the Board of ':korks with the same
r ecommendat"ion.
Reso,Iuti;on No. 671, awarding the contract for this
work: to the, W+ste.rri Paving Company, was read,'. and on mo t.ion of
Jordan arid iho'it;s, was adopted by unanimous vote or: roll call.
Hear ing~ on ,Setback Change
This was also the time set for a nearing onL the r e, st
of Miss Harker for change of setback line on greenwood Avenue
for a distance of 50 feet from. ; arrie t Avenue from 24 feet to
11 ;feet . A report was received from the City Planning COr*:missic,:
recommending that thispetiticn be denied. Miss Harker was
present and addressed the Council on this matter. On motion
of Nhisier and Jordan, the re4uest of Miss Harker was granted.
Ordinance No. 428, changing the setback line on the.
southerly.:side of Greenwood Avenue from 24 feet to 11 feet for a
dis tans -e of '75 feet from Harriet ".venue, was read, and on motion
of iel y. and. uabisler, wss passed by unanimous vote on roll ca:..:.
On: mot.lon; of Hobart and 3ertSc hce, it Was directed
that ..a hearing be held. on July 23, 1928, at 8 P. M. on the
matter of changing the setback line on Harriet Avenue for a
distance of 75 feet -from Greenwood Avenue on Miss Harker's
property from:11 feet to 24 feet, and that in the meantime the
ia-tter 'be referred to the?larnin7 Commission.
