The Council of the. City of Pawo. Alto met on this date
at 7:30 P. M., pursuant toadjournment of December 13, 1929,
with Mayor Christensen presiding. Roll call as follows:

This was the time for the continuation of the hearing
upon the report of the commissioners in connection with the
widening of >Cowper . Street between University. and Hamilton Avenues.
A report was :received . from Committee No. I recommending: that the
City do mot share any ,portion of the expenses. of widening Cowper
street and recommending that the 'Council Order ' the commissioners
to make a new assessment, ;report and plat. Onmotion of Kelly
and Lausten, this ;report was approved.
Resolution No; 838, directing the commissioners to'
make a 'new . report and"': assessment., was read, and on motion of Thoits
and -Mosher was adopted by unanimous vote on roll call.

This. was " also the time . for a continuation . of : the hearing
upon the report= of the commissioners on the opening and widening of
Dana Streit, Center .street and. Hamilton Avenue.' A report was
received fAom Committee, No. 1 recommending that the report es
modified be .adopted. Mr. Frank L. Grist, attorney for Mrs. Pluns,
why; previouily filed a ..protest to the commissioners' report,
was present sand addressed the Council, stating that the main
objection inher protest had, been overcome by the modified report,
but there was still. some objection as to the value placed upon
the Fluns . property.-. The City Clerk, being one of the commission-
ers, informed the Council that the same value per acre had been
placed on all property. affected. On motion. of Mosher and Lausten,
the protest of Mrs. Pions was overruled by unanimous vote.
Resolution No. 839, approving the report of the
commissioners as corrected, was read, and on motion of Mosher and
nertsche, was passed. by unanimous vote on roll call.

This was the date set for a hearing on the matter of
opening alleys in Blocks 46 and 47, College Terrace, and Blocks 1
and 2, Weisshaar Addition. Protests on this matter were received
from Frances M ' eisshaar. Mary Smith and other property owners
affected.. bar. Frank L. sCrist,, attorney, addressed the Council
on behalf of the. protestants.
On motion of 'Molts and Ser. tsche, this matter was
referred; to Committee No, 1 for ;a conference with the property
owners concerned, and the hearing was continued to thenext regular
meeting on January 13, 1930;.
On motion of Bertsche and Lausten, the matter of
opening an alley in Block, 50, Colie;ge Terrace, a protest having
been received en this matter from Lucy. Lighbbody, was referred to
Committee No. 1 .and the hearing contl3 ed untilthe next meeting. -

This was the time, for a hearing on the recommendations
of the City. Planning Commission for changes of setback lines
on portions of Rarnikn and Ashby Avenues and the establishment of
setback lines on Dana Street and Forest Avenue. No proteste were
received and there was no one present who wished to be heard on
this matter.

Report on Plan- for . Mayfielc Park
The Planning- Commission presented a report eoncerninP
the plan for the city::park opposite the Mayfield Station and
,recommended that the plan -be.=adopted by the Council. This was
discussed and referred to C:o ittee No. 1.
Planting Plan for Plaza
A report, was. received from the City Planning Commission
approving the- planting plan, for the Plaza with the following
modifications,

only lawn,' shrubbery and trees being planted.

Concerning M r3dlefle3 d Roa1_ Bridge
Councilman Thoits stated that citizens had called
attention to the,, fact that the Middlefield road Bridge is inadequate
for heavy traffic and that the solid rail on the side of the bridge
obstructs the view. On motion` of Thoits and Thomas, this matter
was referred to the Board of Works to be taken up with the Boards
of Supervisors df the counties, with view to having this bridge
'remodeled°
