The minutes of the meeting of March 17, 1930, were

Police by the City Attorneys' be. Charged against him. On motion

Report' on Widening Lytton
A report was received from the Board of corks
transmitting to the- Council for Its consideration and action
a report prepared by the City- Engineer on the utter of widening
Lytton 'Avenue between Alma and Bryant. and widening cross
streets between Lytton and University Avenues from Alma to
'haverleyV. e.This was referred to Committee No. 1.
Opening- Streets in South Oregon Tract
A;,report. was received from the Board of Works recomme:t.
ing that, streets be opened, and widened in. the South Oregon
Avenue3 .Tratts.s:lildicatedi on the South. Oregon Avenue Road Map
arepa:re•d' by the> Ctt.y Engineer. The City Attorney made a verbal
report `on- this m.atter„ stating that the streets in this tract
had: never been., l.egally< dedicated to the county for public
streets, _ and he :therefore recommended that the plans and
speeiffcations -and the resolution of intention when adopted
provide for :the: opening of these streets as well as the widening
of themae yrhis matter was left in the hands of the City
AttorneY and Board •of Works.

The City. Planning Cornri .s 31on reported "that it has
in hand the matter of consideration of the City Engineer's
nian for the bay shore cevelop.;.ent, but can not complete its
study of this matter until it has had an opportunity to
consider the report on sewage survey which is now being made.
Report on Widening Cambridge Ave .
A joint -report was received from Committees No. 1
and No. 4 recommending, referring to the widening of Cambridge
v nue, that. the sum of $234n.04 be appropriated from the
cvoi ving and now constituted for the t rpose, and paid by
'=:e City Auditor to the owner upon delivery of a proper deed
o the northerly 18 feet of the property ad jo :ning the Fisher

A- report wa:s received from CoMmittee No. 1 recommendis
adoption of> a lease between the City azid. A. P. Anderson
the, canst.ruction, .of a boat shop on the bay shore lands.
This lease> was read, and on motion of Mosher and
Thomas,. a resolution .approving the lease, ' together with a bond
in , the< sum .o.f `$25,,000 :of the Pacific ' Indemnity Company, `insurin
thecity and .its 'officials against damage, and direr ting the
Mayor ond .Ci ty Clerk to execute the lease.,was adopted by

recommending the approval of a lease with Mr. 0. C. Hulse
for land on the bay shore, on which to. display and sell motor
boats, to rent bolts and operate a marine .service station
for the sale of gasoline and oil.
The.provisions of this lease were read - and discussed
at lengthby the Council, with particular. reference to. the
granting of an exclusive right to Mr. Hulse.` to conduct said
business:,:as a -s 'provided in the proposed lease, .i t being the
opnien of .a number of the council members that the City should
pct grant such exclusive right.'

Lease with Mr. Ewing
e' or. t was received from Committee, No. 1 recommend-
ing' that the lease between the City and Mr. James R. Ewing for
the e.stabli;s.hthent of a miniature golf course on eit,y land
on El Camino Neal be approved.
This proposed lease was read, and was amended on page
2 in the ;eat 'sentence of the third paragraph by adding the
worts ' t 4200.00 ; a month", as the rental for any period over the
three *`ar:term`of the lease. 0n notion of Thoits and Mosher,
a resolution approving this lease and directing ;t to be executed
by, the Mayor and: City Clerk; was passed by unanimous vote on
roll call., the . lease to be dated April 15, 1930.

Cambridge Ave.
Reports .dated. March 28, 1930, and April 11, 1.930,
on the matter .- of widening Cambridge Avenue were received from
the: Deputy ' City Attorney, stating that the Superior Court has
entered" judgment in this natter whereby the city w y acquire
the land necessary: to widen Cambridge Avenue, and the Council
must' now, decide, whether, to continue with the project or abandon
it.; -M.r. Guernsey, property owner on Cambridge Avenue,
addressed:., the Council on this. Natter.
This matter was discussed, and the Deputy Attorney
stated that it was now necessary for the Street Superintendent
to .proceed` with the plans, that the Coi,ncil may grant extension
of ,time; as necessary for this work, and in the meantime perhaps
a:More satisfactory plan may be worked out.

the Deputy' City Attorney- was received and placed on file.

Mr. C . fie Berns; ,addressed the Council upon the
proposed ordinance prohibiting the sale of tobacco by vending
machines. I e. was irformedthat' this matter is under
consideration by the Board. of: Safety and Committee No. 2
wno are not yet ready to' make a report.
