The :Council .of the City of Palo Alto met on this date at 7:30 p.m , p,irsuant to adjournment of October 8, 1934, with Mayor Thomas presiding. Roll call as follows: Present; Blois, Bonham, Cathcart, Collins, Crandall, all, Green, Judson, Kelly, Mitchell, Mosher, Stephens, Molts, Thomas. Absent: Christensen, Wood. -Tine minutes of the meeting of October 8, 19341 were approved. Re Status of Properties Obtainveni by Tax Deed. The -City Attorney made a verbal report upon the con- dition of Lots 9 and -10, Block 15, College Terrace, in connection with an .inquiry made by Mrs. Della e. uemser as to whether the. City desires to sell these lots. It was explRine . th=.t the City has a tar deed to this property and that the delinquent taxes, penalties and street assessments now amount to approximately w2300.00. The City attorney also stated that the county taxer have been delinquent on this property for several years. The uitye.ssessor reported that this property is appraised for w753.0G. The. City Attorney pointed out that the City would have some difficulty in selling these lots unless the county taxes were pad up. After discussion, the City Attorney was asked to secure an itemized st4tement as to the amount due the County for delinquent taxes, and to report further on this matter at the next meeting. The City Attorney reported that he was still investigat- ing the status of the icCo lg an property in Cunnyside i daition, to which the City has tax deeds. He stated that the county records are not clear as to the ownership of these :lots, rend t:; t some of the lots have changed hands in recent years; that he is considering the advisability of bringing a quiet title action .n the name of the City against one of these lots, that he r:_t;, written the.Attorney General on this matter but hae es yet received no -opinion from him; that he woad: like to continue h}:: nve;stigation of this matter and after he has come to some conclusion as to the proper procedure he would.ask the Council for authority. He stated that; he believed no attention ,was being given to the maintenance nce of the houses or to the collection of rents by the City, and he suggested that the Council consider such assertion of their rights of ownership. Comments : on "Open nousest Councilman Collins, memberof the committee which made arrangements for the "open` : house' -;held on October 1`?, 1.934, made a brief report and expressed gratification to the officials and employees taking part in the "open, house" and helping to mare: it a success. He stated that there WRS no expense ° involved ie the un ertaking except for a. few minor items and that the work in the various departments was, done by salaried employees on their regular time. Councilman Collins made a motion "that the Council mark the holing of the first 'open house' ty the record�.�ng of an expression of commendation of the administrative officers, departmental executives, and ; all; employees for the interest any.: enthusiasm shown in the undertaking; and that the clerk be directed to communicate this . action to the departments and commissions". This motion' was seconded by Mitchell and carried. the Mayor and. The projectof a proposed Mayfield Community F'.ouse was discussed, and it was reported that plans for this have not come officially before the Council or Planning Commission as yet and no consideration has yet been given to a site for such a building. A suggestion was made that perhaps e new nibrary building for the 1iayfield Listrict with some community features would be more desirable than a separate Community house. It-was understood that when definite plans for such e project are prepared they would be presented to the Council for .consideration.
