Thee Council of the City of Palo Alto, met on this date at
pursuant to the -following call:
"As Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, hereby
call a special meeting of the Council of the.. City of
Palo Alto, to convene at the council chamber: in the
City. Mall at Palo Alto, ,et the hour of 7:30 p.m.,.
Monday;, npri..1 23, 1934, for the purpose of receiving
a report from Committee No. 3 on the matter of'moving
the night baseball equipment from i;inecnada' Parr to El
Camino Park; _and for the coneideratioii`: of such other.
business as may come before the Council,"
In the absence of the .&ayor, the meeting was cailea" to
order by the. City Clerk, , who asked for nominations : for Mayor pro
tern. On motion, of. Christensen and Johnson, Councilman Judson
was nominated and elected Mayor pro tern and took the chair as such.
Roll call as follows:'
Present: Blois, Bonham, Christensen, Collins, Crandall,
Johnston,., Judson, Mosher, tephens .
Absent: Cathcart, .Kelly, Mitchell, Thoits, Thomas, Wood.
The, minutes of the meeting of Apr. 9,1934, were approved.

A report was received from Committee e o. 3 relating to
the matter of moving; the night baseball equipment from i inconada
Park . to El Camino Park, recommending to the Council that oec',else
of the rrotests made by the, Palo Alto elos;pi tal and the University
officials, nursesand
members of the Palo Alto Medical ` , oc yty,
this equipment be ,not moved to this location.
A motion iwas made by Christensen, seconded by Mosher,
that this report -be approved and the matter be referred back tone
proper committee: for consideration as to another location.
This matter was discussed at was stated by members of Committee
eao. 3 that the possibility of securing another location for night
baseball had:been discussed bythe committee, and that it was
the understanding "` that the Planning Commission would look into the
matter and report at a later date upon a :suitable location.
The motion to ;approve the report of Committee No. W,xs
then withdrawn, and the ;natter was referred b- k to Committee
for further investigation.
Councilmen; Thoits and Kelly came at 7:45 p.m. and were
present during; the rest of the meeting.

Board of Trustees ,• of 'Palo Alto since its incorporation as a city
was on April 28, 1894, forty years ago. There was preeent upon

A cominunicati.or3 was received from the Mayor's
Committee on Unemployment Relief offering its service in the
Manage tent:.of the former :shelter as n Com.mum ty Kitchen.
On motion of Collins and Johnson, the offer of the Mayor's
Conmi,ttee to operate the facilities of the former he1ter -as
a Community Kitchen was accepted.
Mr. A. W. Hoy, member of the Board of Safety, was
present and stated that: it was the understanding that the
nandling- of salvage > and the operation of the woodyard would
maintained by the Mayor's Committee.
Councilman Christensen left at this time, 8:35 p.m
and was absent during the rest of the meeting.
