HomeMy WebLinkAbout07291935The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this date in special session at 7:30 p.m., in response to the following cal..: 111.s Acting mayor of the City of Palo Alto, i hereby call a special meeting of the Council of the City of Palo alto, to convene at the council chamber in the city hall in the City of Palo Alto, at the MloW of 7:3C' p.m., Monday, July 29, 1935, for the purpose of authorizing; the City pruditor to make certificate relative to the City s contribution to Works Progress Aaminlstra.tion Projects, and for the transaction of such other business as may come before the Council.." The special order of the day was the consideration of a ipropriations to certain Works x'rogress Administration projects in =order that tjle Auditor might secure the, necessary authoriza- tion on<.;to sign certificates, as rewired by -the Works Progress 'Administration, showing that the Cit:,y,s contributions to the projects will be available as needed. It was pointed out that all. of the proposed contributions, with one exception, are included : in the 1935-36 budget, but as the budget has not yet been, .: adopted by the Council tna, Auditor is unable to sign the recguireO. ,-certif icates . It was stated that the City's • contributions to the proposed projects, most of which are 'transfers of S . E. R. A. projects already in operation to the '1 P . A . , consist of part of the salaries of certain city employees for superinten- dence, rental of space and equipment owned by the City, ana Utilities used in the projects. After further discussion, this motion .:as withdrawn, ana it vas roved by Mitchell, seconded by Bonham, that the Council approve the projects as listed and appropriate a sum not to exceed the amount estimated for each project, and that the d.uditor be instructed to make the necessary certifica- tion that the city t s contributions will be available as needed This motion was adopted by unanimous vote on roll call. Claim. of Mathild.a Roberts claim was •received from Mat Lilda Roberts against the City of palo Alto, J . F. Byxbee as City Engineer, and L. Anderson as Deputy City Engineer and Director of Utilities, in the amount of 4p5,581.68 on account of injuries ree 1ting from a fall at the intersection of Lytton venue and Guinan Street. On motion of Thomas and Mitchell, this claim was referred to the City Jttorney. , -letter from Consulting Harbor Engineer A communication from George F. It vas pointed out that both, the Board of Viorks and Board of safety have recommended tit' adoption of such an, ordinance.
