Submission of Tentative Budget for 1937-68
A report was received from Co.amittee No. 4 submitting
the tentative budget for the fiscal year 1937-38, with balance
sheets, showing the estimated expenditures and estimated revenue,
computed on the basis of a 11.00 tax rate. Attention was
directed to certain expenditure items, incuding salary
Increases, which nave been requested but not included in the
tentative budget.
It was recommended by the committee that consideration
ore given to thepossible combination of .. he offices of lax
:;ollector and Utilities Coiiec tor.
The committee aavised that the increased cost of
operating the new tsnimal Shelter might be offset by reconsidering
t'. e Council's action of June b, l. 36, pronibiting t he boarding of
animals.
It was pointed out that consideration of any possible
reduction in the, tax rate must take into account therequests
or appropriations which have no t been included in the tentative

felt that the share of governmental expense now being borne by
t ne utilities has reached a desirable :maximum.
