Electric Division Mr. Smith referred to the fact that:. .�.-�,�. ,tee no provision is made in the proposed budget for an ;:a propriation fora nem street ,lighting system, and asked whether or not the budget would include'sufficient funds to r �, permit an expenditure o-' . 6OC3 or $10,000 if the Council should later approve ;the + installation of nem street lights on one street as an experiment and demonstration to ,.the public of the desirability of a nem system. iie ,'as advised that such an appropriation could be taken from the unappropriated balance or from the contingent fun; if the Council thought it necessary, but:that it was doubtful if the budget as now set up would permit of such an expenditure,. Mr. " Smith also referred to the increase in contemplated expenditure of the Water Division of about 41 per cent and to the increase in :estimated .revenues of about 1.2i per cent, and aekea for information as to the contemplated increase in water, rates. The City.
