?ri==g Commission., expressed the view that the rezoning would
not prevent landscapillq along the highway frontage„ It was

beautification of the highway property . might involve the

secondary <road smilar to t ,at in Soutin7ate which would be a
very ;:expensive development. The Mayor and Councilman Wood
.felt that the matter should be given further consideration: in
relation to ; the petition just presented before a vote on the
rezoning question is taken. However, the motion to adopt the

was adopted by the following vote:

Stanford Avenue was referred to the Planning Commission and the
Board of Works.
Name of New Municipal Pool
A; communication was received from the Community Center
Commission -requesting that the new municipal pool being
constructed. in Rinconada Park be named in honor of Mrs. Louis
Stern. The Commission is planning to have appropriate
ceremonies for the dedication of the pool about June 15, 1939.
On . motion of Richards and Giffin, the C'or szmunity Center
Commission: wasauthorized to select an appropriate name for the
new pool, in honor of Mrs. Stern, and to proceed with plans for
the dedication ceremony.
Palo Alto Day at Fair
o A letter was received from the Chamber of Commerce
concerning the prograr.' planned for Palo Alto Day at the Golden
Cate. International Bxposi wion on May 12th, and ?,ecuestin that
the 'Council allot` the sum of $175.00 from the rermai nt e balance
in : the C'it r's„ Publicity Fund to cover the expenses s -n. connection.
with' ;the :program ' and to provide transportation: for" those

A report: was received from the Planning Commissionrecor,tend.ng that the, setback „ line on the southeasterly 'side of

This report was': accampan ed by a letter of 'explanation concerning
the plans of the ' owner, of the property to construct;.:; six-foot,
wall enclosing his service yarc1 and for the landscaping of the
area between the wall and the curb line.

Service Station >Leases
The City' Attorney presented letters which he had.
:.r. wired to be sent to the Standard Oil Company and to the
Shell 011 Company 'pertitt, ing: ,;hem to continue to occupy their
:resen.t service station. sites at El Camino real and University
Avenue, after theexpiration of their leases on May 31, 1939,
on a month to month tenancy'a.t rental of $200.00 a month.
On notion of Mosher and'Wood, ,the Mayor and City Clerk were
authorized to sign' these letters on behalf of the City.
Dredge Fund
A report. was .received from the Board of Works request-
ing the Council to appropriate the sum of $610.00 from the
Dredge Fund with vhich. to =pay expenses for the operation of
the dredge while at work`- isr : the Redwood City harbor. A report
gas also received from CoMmittee.No. 4 recommending treat this
a::,p opr.at.Lon be made as requested by the Board of Works.
On motion of Thoits and. Wood, and by unanimous vote

approved and the],appropriati n. authorized.

Mayfield Fire ' Station
A report vas received from. the Board of Works trans-
mitting Bulletin No. 135 concerning estimates of cost for
rei .odel ing the present Mayfield Fire Station.- This was
referred to < the Board., of Safety. and Committee No. 2.

ing that the appropriation of $150.00 as requested by the

stated that she w .sited to be sure that the organization,
