considering the final plans and specifications

of Public Works to call for and receive bids on
April 3., .1939,01'
Mayor Costello presided; and roll call was as follows:
Present: Bonham, Cashel, Collies, Costello, Cypher,
Mrs. Merner, Mosher, Thoits, Thomas, Wood.
Absent; Blois,, Goddard, Mitchell, Richards.
Reference was made to the report of the Board of
Works of February 15th. Concerning plans and estimates of cost
for the Hospital :addition, the Board recommending that it be
authorized to take Immediate bids on the construction of the
Hospital addition, with .savings to be. made where possible by
selection of the most desirable alternates to come within the
funds available.:
A report .was . received from Committee No. 1 recommendi
the approval of.: the, recommendation. of ..t.he .Board ..of Works that
the Board be authorized to takp immediarte., bids on the construc-
tion of the Hospital addition, .with. savings to bemade v+rhere
passible by selection of the most desirable alternates to: come
within the funds available.. Committee No. 4 also recommended
the approval of " this recommendation of the Board of Works,
with the specification thatthe funds available are the $175 OO
bond funds.
further report was received from the Board of WOrks,
dated March 6, 1939, advising that the Board approves the; plans
and specifications_ for additions- and alterations to the Palo Alto
Hospital, prepared by Will G. 'Corlett, Architect and Engineer,
and recommending. to the City. Council the adoption of said -plans
and specifications as the..plans and specifications for certain -
,additions and alterations.. to, said.' hospital. The Board also
recommended for approval, theewage.. scaal.e .as incorporated in .the
nNotice to contractorsn.' The Board requested .authorization to
call for bids in accordance, With the bid f ors. propo sed in the
specifications, and requested that the City Clerk be authorized
to advertise the` TINotic_e to Contractorsn.
The general provisions of :the bid form were explained
by the Deputy City Engineer.' It was pointed out that bidders
will be asked to: submit figureson the basic bid, which deletes
certain work_ from .the general .pians, on various alternates
proposed, and on the completedproject in accordance with the
Mans and specifications.
Resolution No. 124, approving the plans and specifica-
tions for additions and alterations to the Palo Alto Hospital,
was read, and on n motion of Mosher and Thoits, was adopted by
unanimous vote on roll call.
