The communication of May 13th from the Standard Stations Inc., was read, the company requesting reconsideration of the matter: •of :leasing the south gore at Palo Alto Avenue e.nd E3. Camino Real, with the understanding that the service station would; be'So' conistruct d and the premises so landscaped as to meet with; -the.. full approval of the. Council and the University. A, letter of May 27th from the Shell Oil Company, re -submitting its offer to lease the south gore of this inter- section was also read. A communication, : dated May 16th, from J. Hugh Jackson, Acting Comptroller of,- Stanford University, was - received, statingthat the University .will consent to the subleasing : of the two -corners of El Camino :; Real and Palo Alto Avenue for service -station purposes, subject to the provision that thee University- shall receive one-half of the rental paid for these sites. Mr. Jackson vas present and .addressed the Council, advising that since hi.s..., communication vas written he had discussed the matter with-. President Wilbur of the University who expreascs:ed .:the hope that; .no lease would be .given to the site on the.northerly corner;: between Palo Alto Avenue and the creek, and in': fact preferred that no lease be given to either corner.
