Mr. Roger Roberts, Chairman of the Board of: Safety,
advised the Council that, although the 'Board of Safety had
made- no report, on this matter0, the ' members of the Board had
been contacted and were in favor of .the edoption of this
orcinaace .

A;►eport was received from the Board of Safety
informing :the Council that it has authorized as an emergency
measuxe the", placing o"f the custodian at the Walter Hays School
on tr+atffic duty•at..the intersection of:;Eribarcadero Road and
?.id erield' Road,` effective as of January 12, 1940, to continue
for' the reznandeer-- of the school year". The- Board recommends
that an appropriation not to exceed $105.00 be made to cover
the custodian.':s, :salary for performing traffic' duty on a $1.00
per 'dayµ ba:sls for each school day. Committee No. 2 recommended
that this;;; report: be approved and that an appropriation not to
exceed", $105."00 be made for this purpose. •
A report was received from Comiittee No. 4 recommend-
: ing : that the amount of $105.00 be transferred from the
1.1nappropriated balance to Account 126-0.1.: on motion of

Palo Alto Residents Club to close California Avenue and open a
