Miss Beat:riee Glaze, 2473 Ash Street, asked questions regarding parkin on California Avenue and the islands to be constructed in that::street, also regarding the lighting project. E1 Camino Real, spoke in protest to any assessment as he felt that the proposed improvements would'be„of no benefit to him. At this point Mr. Jones asked Mr, Golick to make a- report with regard to agreementswith property owners on California Avenue relative to acquisition and constructionof improvements. Mr. Golick reported that all; property owners had been contacted, and that there are Signed agreesrents from fourteen out of a total of nineteen; that some of the others indicated they would go 'along with the majority but had not signed the agreement. .Mr. Golick filed the fourteen signed agree- ments in connection with Project, 60-5, in which the property owners consented to the plans for acquisitions and improvements, and agreed not to corrimence any action' against the City for any damages by reason-,: of said acquisitions or improvements or the inaintenance thereof, , or becauseof the construction or installation o.` eny land scaping or barriers which re. ig'ht:.remove any curb pareing space abutting their prop': rty: Resolution -:No. 3384 was then adopted by unanimous vote on roll call,. Resolution No: 3385, creating the California Avenue Area Maintenance District, was introduced, and on motion of Mitchell, duly seconded, was _adopted by majority voice vote. Resolution No. 3386, overruling protests on Resolution No. 33.61. of Preliminary Determination and of Intention, Project No. 60-7, was introduced, and on mction of Mitchell, duly seconded, was adopted by unanimous' voice vote. Amendment to Building Code (Fences), A report was recezved,from Committee No, J recommend- ing adoption of an ame dxnent to Section 1506 of -the Building Code 'regarding fences on_,.properties.which have a rear yard abutting a public street; to .provide that:.fences not exceeding 6 feet in height rriay be built provided they are "iocltted one foot froze, the property line and are constructed ofMasonryor, a similar type of construc- tion which is permanent in nature; provided further that when there is a planting strip between the. sidewalk and'the fence, the developer shall provide the necessary plant materials and an irrigation system, -the City to maintain such planting strip thereafter.
