Distinguished Service Awards l ayor's :Charter Revlew- C m nittee The Mayor announced that the Mayor's Charter Review Committee had completed its work and that the recommendations made by this committee regarding possible charter amendments will be placed on the ballot at the primary election. He commended the committee for its work and requested the members who were present to come forward to accept distinguished service awards and to accept; also, -the thanks of the Council and congratulations on a job very well done. The awards were then presented to the following members of the committee who were present: Mr. Joseph S. Lawry, Chairman; Judge Egerton D. Lakin; Dr. Bernard L. Kronick; Dr. James T. Watkins IV; Mrs. H. C. Moreno; Mrs. Templeton Peck; Miss Sprig Theobald, Mr. John C. Beckett; Mr, William Si. Love; Mr. Walter E. Kay, Mr. Thomas H. Carmody, Jr.; and Dr. Dennis Lucas. Distinguished service awards were directed to be mailed to the following committee members who were unable to be present at the meeting Mr. Donald S. Knapp: Dr. J. The' City Engineer presented his report on the street abandonment and there being noone present wishing to be heard on the matter, the hearing was closed. Resolutior,. San Antonio Avenue into the shopping center providing, how- ever, that access £rom Alma Street into the underpass is prohibited: A motion was made by Woodward to approve the recom- mendation, of the Committee of the Whole and also to direct the staff. to prepare an agreement with the developer. The motion: was seconded by Porter. During the ensuing discussion, Mr. William K. Mr. ,Ballard French, 318 Ferne Avenue, expressed, concern about traffic beingrouted through a residential area by permitting right turns` from the underpass. Sewage Collection and Storm. Sewer System Study The City; Manager requested authorization to execute an .agreement with Brown and Caldwell, consulting engineers, to make a study of sewage collection and the storm sewer systems, to prepare necessary plans for future development of these systems and, to prepare -plans and specifications for construction improve- ments as required.
