WHEREAS, a written petition for the annexation or
that eerta1n ter.r1tory contiguous to the limits of the City or
Palo Alto, hereinafter described, also known as portion or
Lot 5, Greer Pal't1t1on, has been present.ed to the City Council
by the owners of aa1d tract; and
illiERKAS, 1t has been determined by the City Clerk or
the City or Palo Alto that there are less than twelve (12)
registered voters residing in said tract ae or the. date or
the filing of the above mentioned petition, to-wit: on the
10th day of October, 1949;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
DO RESOLVE as follows:
That Monday, the 12th day of December, 1949, at the
hour of 7:30 P.M., 1n the Council Champer of the City Hall,
1n ·the City of Palo Alto,be and 1t is hereby dee1gnated as
the time and place when any persor. owning property within such
territory so proposed to be annexed may appear b~fore the
City Council and show cause why said territory should not be
annexed to the City or Palo Alto, and who may also file written
proteatJ against said annexation; said property is described
as follows:
All that certain real property situate in the
County of Santa Clara, State of California,
described as follows:
Beginning at the most Northerly common corner of
Lots 4 and 5 of the Subdivision and Partition of
part of the lands of the Estate of' Maria Louisa
Soto de Greer, Deceased, in the Rancho Rinconada
del Arroyo de San Francisquito, as shown upon
the Map of said Subdivision and Partition of
record in the office of the Recorder or the
Countl of Santa Clara, State of Califorr.ia, in
Book D11 of Maps, at page 79, said corn~r being
1n the center of the San Franc1squito Creek;
thencg along the line between said Lots 4 and 5. s. 27 21' W. 214.35 feet to an iron pipe at a
corner in the boundary of Tract No. 629, Crescent
Park Addition, the Map or which waa filed for record
in the off.ice of the Recorder of the County of Santa
Clara, State of California, on April 29, 1949 in Book
22 of Maps, at pages 46 and 47; thence le-Rving the
line between said L~ts 4 and 5 and running along the
boundary of said Tract No. 629, Crea cer1t Park Addi ti on,
the two following courses and distances: S. Tro 32'
E. 149.11 feet to an iror. pipe and N. 21° 06 1 E.
200.10 feet to an iron pipe in the center of the San
Frar.claqu1to Creek and Northerly boundary of said
Lot 5 of said Greer Partition; thence leaving the
boundary of aaid Tract No. 629 Crescent Park Addition
and running along the Norther::..y Boundary of said
Lot 5 of the Greer Partition and along the center of
the San Frar1c1squi to Cree!< the follow:1.ng two courses
and distances: N. 500 09' w. 62.42 feet and S. 87°
21' W. 70.62 feet to the p~int of beginning, and
be1ng a portion of said Lot 5 or said Subdivision
and Partition of part of the lands of the Estate of
Mari.a Louisa Soto deceased 1n the Rancho Rinconada
del Arroyo de San Franc1squito;

That said petition waa signed by the owners of more
than one-fourth of the area or the land ~n the territory pro
posed to be annexed, which owners represent more than one-fou~th
of the assessed value of said territory according to the last
preceding equalized. a33essment roll of the County of Santa Clara.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and
she 1s hereby directed to publish a copy of this resolution
cnce a week for two successive weeks prior to the 12th day
of December., 1949., 1n the Daily Palo Alto Times, a newspaper
of general circulation published in the City of Palo Alto.
The above an". foregoing resolutlon was duly and reg
ularly introduced and passed by the Council of the C1ty or Palo
Alto at a re~ular meeting held on Monday, the 14th day or
November, 1949, by the following ·1ote:
