RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF PALO ALTO RELATING TO
RENT CONTROL
WHEREAS, the attached petition to decontrol rents in the
Clty of Pal0 Alto was filed with the City Council of this City
on the 8th day of July, 1949; and,
WHEREAS, such petition, on 1ts face, recited facts
sufficient to require the City Council of the City of Palo Alto
to call a public henr1ng to consider decontrolling rents; and,
WHERE.~, the attached notice of the date, time, place and
purpose of such public hearing was published once in the
Palo Alto Times, a newspaper of general circulation p~blished
and circulated in the City of Palo Alto, on the 7th day or
September, 1949; ~nd~
WHEREAS, the City of Pelo Alto held a public hearing at
the time, date and place for the purpose set forth 1n such
notice of publication; and,
WHEREAS, at such public hearing all interested persons were
given a reasonable opportunity to be heard, w1th the right to be
represented by counsel; and,
W:tEREAS, n transcript of the record of nu ch public hearing
nnd the petitions and letters introduced prior and subsequent
to said hearing comprise the entire record upon which th1s
finding and resolution are based, and a cert1f1ed copy of such
record is attached hereto; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palo Alto, having
duly considered all of the ev:l.dence presented at such hearing
and taken the same under ndvisement;
NOW, 'l'HEREFORE, the City Councj 1 of the City of Palo Al to
do hereby find and resolve ns follows: Th.at there no longer
exiGts ln the City of Palo Alto such a shortage of rental houn1ng
accommodat1ons as to requJ.re rent control 1n such city.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed by the Council of the City of Palo Altc
at a meeting held on the 31st day of October, 1949, by
the following vote:

Bentrott, Blois, Bolander, Bowden, Cashel, Cathcart,
Freedman, Hill, Merner, Mitchell, Montreuil, Morten, Wickett.
