adop-::.ed a Hesolut ion of Intention to approv~ Amendment to
Contract prov1d.1ng for participation in the State Employees'
Retirement System; and

WHEREAS, it 15 provided ln the State Employees' Retire
ment Act that prior to the execution of such Amendment to Contract
the same must be approved by the city firemen and policemen who
are members of the State Employees' Retirement System;
NOW, THEREFORE, tl:e Council of the City of Pale Alto
DO RESOLVE as follows:
Tha'.:, an elect;.on be and the same is hereby called for
'Monday, the 28th day of February, 1949, to be held. between the
ho1..trs of t~:OO P.M. and 5:0C P.M., the polls to be located at the
Fire and Police Building.
All firemen and policemen of the ~1ty of Palo Alto who
are members of the State Employeen• Reti~ement System shall be
permitted to vote at said election.
Th~ propon1tion to be vot~d i.tpon 1s whetner or not the
Cit~r o.i Palo Alto shall execute Amendment to Contract providing
for the pa:ct1c1,pat5.on of employees of said C1 ty in the Sta.te
Emplo~·ees • Rt:t1r~men~ System.
The Election Board for the purpose of carrying O'l said
election shall consist of two members, namely: Dale Atwood and
Herbert Nelson. After the close of the polls, the Board shall
canvass the ballots and mak~ a return of the results to the ::.!.t~·
Clerk. The ballots to be used s!1all 'be those furnished by t!~e
Board of Adm1n1strat1on of the State Emplo~·ees' R0tirement System.
The Clty Clerk is hereby directed to post a not~ce setting
forth the time and place of this election.

introduced and passed by the Council of the C1ty of Palo Alto at
