RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
CO MME MORATING THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CITY OF
PALO, LEYTE, PHILIPPINES
WHEREAS, the City of Palo, -Leyte, Philippin es, fir st
es tablished as a municipality in 1768,will celebrate its 200th
A nniversa ry December 26-29, 1968; and
W HEREA S, Palo Alto and Pal o were g ranted chart ers in the
TOW N AFFILIATION A SSOCIATION in 1962 and be came Sister Cities
in September, 1962; a nd
WHERE AS, said Siste r City P rog ram i.s administered by the
GIANTS CLUB of Palo, M r. Juan Tismo,first giant, p ursuant to
a grant by the municipal council of Palo, wh ose M ay or is
A ntonio M. Ogaya n, and by NEIGHBORS ABRO AD pursua nt to simil ar
delegation by the Council of the City of Palo Alto, wh ose
Mayor is Edward S. Ar nold; and
W HEREAS, the Sister City Program builds individual bridg es
of friendship by providing the means for the exchange of people,
ideas and information, the people -to -people element that le ads
to wor ld pe ace; a nd
- WHEREAS, the peo ple of Palo and Palo A lto r eason that if
they can share the same pr oble ms, the same joys and so rro ws,
they will know eac h other as neighbor s' t. nd friends.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Counc il of the City of Palo Alto does
R ESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. That Palo Alto s hare s with its sister c ity,
Palo, L eyte, Philippines, the great pr ide of the peo ple of
Palo in the a chie veme nt of the 200th Anniversary of the
munic ipality of Pa lo , and rejo ices tha t the sister city link
is powerful enou gh to bridge the 8000 miles se parating the

two c ommunities and expresses the fe rve nt desire th at this
relati onship ca n co nti nu e forev er, and grow and i ncreas e y ear
by year .
SECTION 2. Th at the City Cle rk shall c ause copi es of this
r esolu tion to be sent to the M unicip al Cou ncil of Palo, ca re
of Mayor Antonio M. Og aya n, to Mr . J uan Tismo, FIRST GI ANT of
the GIANTS CLUB and to NEIGHBORS ABRO AD .
