RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING CUBBERLEY HIGH SCHOOL'S "WINGS TO OAXACA"
PROGRA M AS PART OF THE P ALO ALTO DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the Mayor of this City and N eighbors Abro ad, o ur
sister city or ganization, recognized and encou raged Mr. David C.
Sta na rd, Princ ipal of Cubberley High S ch ool, and th e Cubberl ey
High Sc hool Ban d in their pl ans to visit Oaxaca; and
WHEREAS, cu ltural e xchange resulti ng from people-to•people
commu nica tion is the foundation of the Siste r City P rog ram
whic h attempts to fu rther international understanding; and
WHER EAS, the work and enthusiasm extended in behalf of
the community and its youth by Cu bber ley High School te ach ers
and stu den ts as an acknowledgment of Palo Alto's 75th Anniver sa ry
is to be applauded;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto d oes
RESOLVE as follows :
SECTION 1. That this Council re cognizes the "Wings to
Oaxaca" project of Cubberley High Scho ol as an impor tant contri-
bution to the ac tivities plan ne d in celebra tion of this City's
75th year. -
SECT ION 2. Tha t this Council co mmends the "Wings to Oaxaca"
pro ject fo r its cooperative natu re a nd in tegratio n with Palo
A lto's es tablished Sister City Pr ogram.
SECTION 3. That this Council fu rther rec ognize s the
unselfish and imaginative efforts of Cubberley stu de nts,
facu lty and paren ts who are seeking to r aise the re qu isite
$28,000 and wishes them success in the pr ompt achiev eme nt of
their goal.

SECT/ON 4. Th at th e City Clerk shall cause conies of
this resolutio n to be s ent to D r. B ernard M. Oliver, Presid ent
of the P alo Alt o Unified S cho ol District Boa rd of Education,
Mr. David C. Stanard, Prin cipal of Cubberlev High School, a nd
to M r. D ouglas Hor nbeck, Dire ct or of the Cubberley High S ch ool
Ba nd.
