Home My WebLink AboutRESO 4154[P-3] • RESOLUTION NO. 4154 QRIGNAL RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 5, 1968 WHEREAS, the Council of the City of P alo Alto (he re- inafter called the "City") in Santa Clara Cou nty (hereinaft er calle d the " Cou nty"), State of Califor nia, has heretof ore duly passed a resolu tion of public interest and necessity prelimi- nary to the adoption of an ordinance calli ng a speci al m unici- pa l bond electio n in the City to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 1968, at which will be submitted to the qualified electo rs of the City a measure for incurr ing; bonded indebtedness of th e City as hereina fter set forth; a nd WHEREAS, a State of California General Electio n will be he ld on Tu esday, Nov ember 5, 1968, an d it Is the desire of the Council tha t sa id special municipal bond electio n be con- solidated with sa id general election ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cou ncil of the City of Palo Alto , as follo ws: Section 1. Said special mun icipal bo nd election is her eby called to be held in said City an d the sam e sha ll be conso lidated with the Sta te of California Gen eral Election to be held on Tue sday, No ve mber 5, 1968, at which ele ction shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City the follow - ing m ea sure, to wit: 1 CITY OF PALO ALTO BOND MEASURE MEASURE ( ): Shall the City of Pal o Alt o (Sewage inc ur a bo nded i ndebtedness Trea tment in the principal amo unt of Facilities) $3,500,000 for th e acq uisi- ti on, constr uction and com- pletio n of the foll owi ng municipal imp ro ve- ment, to wit: Sewage treatment f acilities, in cluding treatme nt plant e nl argements, trunk and outfall lines, pipes, p umps, machi nery, equ ipment, con nections, l ands, eas eme nts, rights of way and other works, prope rty and stru ctures ne cessar y or c onv enient f or sewage tre atme nt fa cilities fo r the City of Palo Alto? YES . NO Section 2. The Board of Supervisors of the Cou nty is hereby re queste d to order the con so lidation of said sp eci al mu nicipa l bond election w ith said general election to be held on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1968, insofar as the City is conce rned, a nd to fur ther pr ovide that within the territory affected by s aid order of consolidation, to wit, the City, the e lection precin cts, polling pla ces and voting booths shall in every ca se be the same, a nd the re shall be o nly one set of ele ction o fficers in each of said precincts. Sa id me asu re for in- cur ring bo nde d in de btedn ess here inabov e set forth sha ll be set for th in each ballot to be used at sa id election insofar as the same is held w ithin the City. Said Bo ard of Sup ervisor s of the Cou nty is further requested to order the Re gistrar of Vo te rs of the Cou nty (i) to set fo rth on all sample bal- lots r ela ting to sa id con solidated e lection s, to be ma iled to the qualifies electors of the City, said measure herein - 2 • above set forth, and to m ail with said sample ball ots to said electors pri nted c opies of arguments (if any) f or a nd ac _ainst s aid m easure, and (11) to p rovide absent voter ball ots for said ge ner al el ecti on and s aid special mu nicipal bond election consolidat ed ther ewith f or use by q ualified el ectors of the City who a re entitled ther et o, in the manner pro vided by law. Section 3. The Registrar of Voters of the Co unty is he reby further a uthorized to canvass, as provided by law, the retu rns of sa id spe cial municipal b ond electio n with re- s pe ct to the v otes cast on said measu re and to certify such canvass of the vo tes cast for and agai nst said me as ure to the Co un cil. Section 4. The City Cle rk is hereby autho rized and dire cted to ce rtify to the due adoption of this r es ol uti on and to tra nsm it a copy hereof so ce rtified to the Bo ard of Superv isors of the Co unty and to file a copy hereof so certi- fied with the Cou nty Clerk of the Co un ty.
