The Counoil of the City of Palo Alto met on this date at
7:30 p.me , pursuant to adjournment of November 10, 1919, with
Mayor Swain presiding. Roll call as follows:

On motion of Thoits and Cooley the report was accepted
and ordered filed.
Resolution: Annexation of Nast Palo Alto.
A resolution, entitled "Resolution Stating the Result
of the Canvass of the Special Election Held in Outside Territory
for the Purpose of :annexing Said Territory to the City of Palo
Alto,A" was introduced and read. On motion of Cooley, seconded
by Bertsche,•said resolution *as passed by unanimous vote on roll

An ordinance, entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Palo
Alto Approving the Annexation of Outside Territory, Commonly Known
and Designated as 'East Palo Alto' in ,Accordance with the Major-
ity Vote in Favor of Said Ann xation Cast at the Special Election
Called and Held in Said Outside Territory,'" was introduced and
given first reading. •**

nance #$i of the City of Palo Alto, Entitled 'An Ordinance Es-
tablishing Fire Limits, ts, Regulating the Construction, Alteration and
Repair of Buildings, the Disposal of Rubbish and the Storage of
Gasolene and Other Products of Petroleum in the City of Palo Alto,
and Prescribing 'Penalties, for the Violation of Said Ordinance; "0

notion of Thoits, seconeeed by Cathcart, was passed by unanimous
vote on roll call,.

Annexing Said Territory to the City of Palo Alto»
The Council of the City of Palo Alto do Resolve as
That, Whereas, this Council did, on.the .14th day of
October, 1919, pass' its resolution calling a special election
to be held in outside territory described .herein for the pur-
Pose of submitting the following proposition to the electors
of said territory, to wit:
Thi.t•it is proposed to annex to, incorporate in and
make a part of the City of Palo Alto the territory sought to be
annexed herein described, together with the proposition as pro-
posed by the petition of electors of said territory on file that
said new territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in and made
a part of said Municipal Corporation, and the property therein
be, after such ,annexation, subject to taxation equally with the
property within said Municipal Corporation to pay the specified
portion of the bonded indebtedness of the said City outstanding
at the date of filing of said petition.
That this Council finds that said election was duly
called and held on November 15, 1919, in accordance with an act
of the legislature approved June 11, 1913, as amended to date,
in said outside territory, and that the election returns of said
election board have been duly filed with the city clerk of the
City of Palo Alto. and are now before this legislative body at
its adjourned regular meeting next after the expiration of two
days from and after the date of said electionfor the purpose of
this body canvassing the returns of said election.
That this Council finds from the canvass of the returns
of said election held in said territory proposed to be annexed,
that the total number of votes given and cart therein on said
annexation. was 20 votes; that the total number of votes given and
cast therein for and in favor of said annexation was i8 votes;
that the total number of votes given and cast therein against
said annexation was 2 votes.
That this Council finds from said canvass of the re-
turns of the election held in the territory proposed to be an-
nexed to the City of Palo Alto that a majority of all votes
cast in such outside territory on the election of said annexa-
tion is in favor of • such annexation.
That said territory proposed to be annexed is describ-
ed as follows:
Beginning at the point of inte erection of the south-
erly line of Hamilton Avenue with the existing boundary line of
the City of Palo Alto, said point being also the intersection
of the northwesterly aid easterly boundary lines of Bieck 85 in
said City; thence easterly along the southerly line of Hamilton
avenue to the easterly line of Lot 5 of the Pitman Partition as
said Hamilton Avenue is Shown on Page 109 of Map Book Q01f0 on
record in the office of the County Recorder of Santa Clara Coun-
ty; thence south along the east line of Lot 5 of the Pitman Parti-
tion to the southeasterly corner of said Lot, as said Partition
is shown- on Page 83 of Map Book *III on record in the office of
the County Recorder of Santa Clara County; thence west along the
south line of said Lot 5 to the east line of Ashby Avenue; thence
south along the east line of Ashby Avenue to the prolongation of
the south line of Pife Avenue; thence west along said prolonga-
tion and the. south line of Pife Avenue to the center line of Boyce
Avenue thence- northerly along the center line of Boyce Avenue and
the easterly line of Block 85 to the point of beginning, above
described territory consisting of the Ashby Addition and Lot 5 of
the Pitman Partition.
For a further description of said territory, reference
is hereby made to a map attached to the petition of the electors
on file at the City Hall in the City of Palo Alto, which map shees
the exterior boundaries of said territory.
That the City Clerk of the City of Palo Alto is hereby
directed to cause this resolution to be entered at large upon the
minutes of the Council meeting of this date as showing the -result
of the completion of the canvass made by this legislative body.
The above and -foregoing resolution was duly passed by
the council of the City of Palo Alto at its adjourned regular
-meeting teld on the 17th day of November, 1915, by the followin5
