Blair and essr s. Cathcart, Easterday, .Swain and The is had taken the oath of office. Councilor npelect,- pia L, 'Terwilliger and Mrs. Denison W. Thomas were not present. Roll cal]. was as follows: Present: Blair, Cathcart: Cooley, Easterday, Jordan, Peterson, Roller, Swain, Thoits, Wing. Absent: Snyder, Terwilliger, Thomas, Election of Hayo r. Mr. Cooley, the retiring Mayor,'welcomed Miss Blair on behalf of the Council as the first woman to hold such office in Palo Alto. The Council then proceeded to pe choice of a Mayor, Swain and Wing being named as tellers. Sloan was reappointed a member of the ' oard of -uolic Safety by the unanimous vet.e of. the Council, Guy C. Miller wee reappointed a =ember of the Public Library Board by the unanimous vote of r.e Council. .Appoint :eat of City Official. Malcolm was reappointed City Attorney by unani- mous vote. P Congdon was reappointed Treasurer, receiving,9 votes H. s and M. A..Buchan I vote. Egerton D. Lakin was reappointed Police Judge, receiving 9 votes and Miss tre e tali l vote. The appointment of a Depucy Auditor was referred to Com- mittee #5 and the Auditor for recommendation at the next meeting. the appointment of a member of 'fie Board of Public Safet;; to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of J.W.R011er was laid over until the next meeting on motion of Cooley, and Roller. The City Clerk and Assessor presented a report submitting to the Council for equalization the AsSessr.ent Roll of all property in the City for the fiscal year 191 9-20 and directing attention to the ordinance provision requiring publication of a notice of the meeting of the Council as a Board of Equalization on August 4, 1919, at 10 a.m. On motion of Molts and Cooley the report was accepted and the Clerk was authorized to have such notice published. On motion of Peterson and Cooley the Council adjourned.
