RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND
NECESSITY OF SAID CITY REQUIRE, FOR PUBLIC USE, CERTAIN
LAND LOCATED IN THE CITY OF PALO ALTO, COUNTY OF SANTA
CLARA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, FOR THE CORTE MADERO
RESERVOIR SITE AND ACCESS ROAD, PROJECT 64-7
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1. That the Council of the City of Palo Alto has
found and determined, and hereby does find, determine and de-
clare, that the public interest and necessity require the
acquisition, construction, and completion by the City of Palo
Alto of a public improvement, namely, a water reservoir site
and access road upon, over, across and in those certain lands
more particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and
by this reference made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That the taking of said property in fee is
necessary.
SECTION 3. That said proposed acquisitions and improve-
ments are planned and located in a manner which will be most
compatible with the greatest public good and the least private
injury, and all of said acquisitions are situated within the
City of Palo Alto, County of Santa Clara, State of California.
SECTION 4. That the Council of the City of Palo Alto
hereby declares its intention to acquire the estates and in-
terests hereinabove more particularly designated in and to
the parcels of land more particularly described in said
Exhibit "A" under eminent domain proceedings; and the City
Attorney of the City of Palo Alto and the law firm of Wilson,
Jones, Morton and Lynch, employed for that purpose, are hereby

directed Lo institute and conduct to conclusion an action in
eminent domain for the acquisition of said property and to take
such action as is necessary therein, and said law firm of Wilson,
Jones, Morton and Lynch shall be paid a reasonable fee therefor.
SECTION 5. The City Manager is hereby authorized and -
directed as an alternative to trial of any action in eminent
domain initiated hereunder to purchase for such reasonable sums
as he may deem appropriate the several parcels of land aforesaid
and to cause to be drafted, executed and delivered on behalf of
the city all documents, either to be used within or without the
condemnation proceeding aforesaid, necessary or convenient to
accomplish this purpose.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution by a vote of two-thirds of all of the members
of the City Council.
I hereby certify that the whole number of members of the
Council of the City of Palo Alto is eleven and that the fore-
going resolution was adopted by a majority vote of the members
of said Council at its meeting held on the 18 day of
March , 1968, by the following vote:

Property Description - Corte Madera Reservoir Site, Project 64-7
PARCEL 1 - Fee Title for Roadway Purposes
A parcel of land 20 feet in width, the centerline of which
is described as follows:
BEGINNING at an iron pipe at the easterly terminus of the
line having a bearing of S. 89°50'30 W. and a distance of
245.18 feet as shown upon that certain map entitled "Record
of Survey, being a survey of a portion of Rancho El Corte
de Madera" which map was recorded March 21, 1960 in Book
118 of Maps at page 13, records of Santa Clara County,
California, said line being a northerly line of Arastradero
Road (50 feet wide); thence northeasterly along said line
of Arastradero Road on a curve to the left, tangent to said
northerly line of Arastradero Road, having a radius of 250
feet, through a central angle of 10° 00' for an arc length
of 43.63 feet; thence S. 10°09'30" E. 80.00 feet, more or
less, to a point on the southerly line of that certain
10 foot wide Public Utilities Easement described as PARCEL
NO. 5 in that certain deed from Pacific Resources Inc. to
the City of Palo Alto dated November 16, 1962 and recorded
November 20, 1962 in Book 5797 of Official Records at page
674 et seq., records of said County; thence southwesterly,
along said southerly line, on a non -tangent curve to the
right having a radius of 325 feet, the center of which bears
N. 10°09'28" W. through a central angle of 9°59'58" for an
arc length of 56.72 feet, to a tangent point; thence con-
tinuing westerly along said southerly line and along the
southerly line of that certain 10 foot wide Public Utilities
Easement described in the deed from Pacific Resources Inc.
to the City of Palo Alto dated November 16, 1962 and re-
corded November 20, 1962 in Book 5797 of Official Records
at page 680, records of said County, S. 89°50'30" W. 227.33
feet; thence northwesterly along the arc of a tangent curve
to the right having a radius of 255 feet, through a central
angle of 8°10', for an arc length of 36.35 feet; thence
N. 81°59'30" W. 207.77 feet to the True Point of Beginning;
thence leaving said southerly line S. 9°04'30" W. 351.50
feet; thence S. 41°34'30" W. 140.00 feet; thence S. 51°16'50" W.
80.00 feet; thence S. 34°03'30" W. 145.00 feet; thence S.
72°51'30" W. 100.00 feet; thence S. 48°11'30" W. 190.00 feet;
thence S. 64°46'30" W. 85.00 feet; thence S. 54°46'30" W.
265.00 feet; thence S. 8°46'30" W. 179.00 feet to a point
of terminus, said last named point being referred to as
Point "A" in Parcel 2 hereinafter described.
PARCEL 2 - Fee Title for a Reservoir Site
BEGINNING at Point "A" described hereinabove in Parcel 1;
thence S. 81°13'30" E. 132.00 feet; thence S. 8°46'30" W.
220.00 feet; thence N. 81°13'30" W. 160.00 feet; thence
N. 8°46'30" E. 220.00 feet; thence S. 81°13'30" E.
28.00 feet, to the point of beginning, containing 0.808
acres, more or less, and being a portion of the Rancho
El Corte de Madera.
PARCEL 3 - Fee Title for. Roadway Purposes
A strip of land 20 feet wide, the centerline of which is
described as follows:

certain deed from Pacific Resources Inc. to the City of
Palo Alto dated November 16, 1962 and recorded November
20, 1962 in Book 5797 of Official Records at page 674
et seq., records of said County; thence southwesterly,
along said southerly line, on a non -tangent curve to
the right having a radius of 325 feet, the center of
which bears N. 10°09'28" W. through a central angle of
9°59'58" for an arc length of 56.72 feet, to a tangent
point; thence continuing westerly along said southerly
line and along the southerly line of that certain 10 foot
wide Public Utilities Easement described in the deed from
Pacific Resources Inc. to the City of Pale Alto dated
November 16, 1962 and recorded November 20, 1962 in
Book 5797 of Official Records at page 680, records of
said County, S. 89°50'30" W. 227.33 feet; thence north-
westerly along the arc of a tangent curve to the right
having a radius of 255 feet, through a central angle of
8°10', for an arc length of 36.35 feet; thence N. 81°59'30"
W. 217.77 feet to a _point of terminus.
