The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in regular ses-
sion on this date at 7:30 p.m. ► with Mayor : ool ey pre idine.
Roll call as follows:
Present: Cathcart, Cooley, .wasterday, Fisher, Jordan, Miller,
Roller, Snyder.
Absent.: Henry, Mosher, Peterson, Swain, Thoits, Vail, Wing.

Guy C. Miller, president of the Library Board, addressed
the Council relative to observing on June 30th next the comple-
tion of ten years` government under the _Freeholders' Charter,
said observance to be arranged by the Library ..:oard and the His-
torical Association. Action was deferred to the next :meting.

A report was received from the City Planning, Commission
recommending that the request of the Andrus Taxi Company for a
permit to open a garage in the Skating Rink property in Block 20,
be denied, and further recommending that the necessary proceedings
be authorized to place the Playhouse property in Block B in Zone
?'o. 4.
On motion of Jordan and Fisher the report was accepted
and the recommendation approved.
Auditor's Petty C j. Sri Increased.
A recommendation was received from the Beard of Public
,corks that the City Auditor's petty cash fund be increased from
$100 to $400, to provide cash for paling. freight on fuel oil.
On motion of Jordan and Miller the recommendation was
approved and such increase authorized.
At this time Councilman Roller :rte excused.
At this time Councilman T'hoits took his seat.

All legal requirements having been complied with, on
motion .of Jordan and ' c`isher a resolution granting such permit was
granted by unanimous vote. on roll call.

Resolution of Intention, Series 1, 1919, together with a
resolution of the Board of Public Works, adopted by said Board
at its meeting on January 6, 1919, recommending said Resolution
of Intention to the City Council for passage and for all further
proceedings necessary and incident thereto, was introduced and
read.
On motion of Thojts, seconded by Easter: ay, said Reso-
lution of Intention was adopted by unanimous vote on roll call.

An Ordinance, entitled ''An Ordinance for the Protectrom
of the health of the People of the City of Palo Alto, Providing
for the Inspection by the health Officer of the City of Palo AT.''o
of Laundries and Other Establishments of Like Character, and for
the t'urpose of Raising Revenue," was given first reading and on
motion of Jordan and Miller was referred to Cowmittee ff2.
Refund of License D.B.
A communication was received from D.B.Maurice requesting
the Council to return to him such portion of the jitney license -
paid by him as might be due for the unused portion of the. year for
which payment was made.
On motion of Molts and. :Fisher such refund as might be
due was authorized by unanimous vote on roll call.
