The Council of the City of Palo Alto met or, this date
at 8 p.m. , pursuant to the call of the Layer. to consider the
matter of declaring November filth a holiday and to transact suc4
other business as might come before tree Council. layor Cooley
presided. Roll call as follows:
Present: Cathcart, Coolee, Eas erday, Eisner, V:i.11e.r,
Roller, Snyder, Vail.
Absent: henry, Jordan, Mosher, Swain, hoita, Wing.

A draft of an ordinance gays read making November llth,
from noon to :midnight, a holiday.
Cathcart thought this date would doubtless be :jade a
National holiday and that it might not be desirable for Palo Alta
to establish a local holiday.
Vail concurred in thie view ar.c: suggested that it
might be best to memorialize Congress to make the day a National
:io liday.
Resolution .authorized.
Vail moved that the Mayor o_ be authorized to appoint a
coremittee to draft a revolution ae king our Senators and Represen-
tatives in Congress to u e their influence to have November llth
for all' future time recognized as Liberation Day. and to suggeet
that our Gove rrmen t act in conjunction with other gone rn..ente to
make the day an international perpetual holiday. The motion was
seconded by Peterson and passed.
On motion of Vail and Peterson the Council adjourned.,
