WEEREAB, pursuant to the "Anne xati on of Uninhibited T errit ory
Act of 1939," ther e has'been presented to the Co uncil of the City
of Palo Alto a petition executed by G eorge C. G allaher, Jr .,
Harr iet J. Galla her, Gam oge Bertnick, Alta Bertnick, Do uglas G.
Bro wn, Eleanor A. Gilpin, Samuel B. Gilpi n, Mrs . Maris M. Hocki ng,
Thane A. Terwilliger, Jacqueline Terwillig er requ esting the
annex ation of that ce rtain property situated in th e C ou nty of Sant a
Clara, State of Californ ia , an d de scribed onvBkhibit A attached
hereto a nd made a part hereof.
WHEREAS, sa id territory is uninhabited, u nincorporated ter ri-
tory co ntiguou s to the City of Pa lo Alto; and
WHEAL sa id petition is exe cuted by the owners of not less
tha n one-fourth of the land in such territo ry by a rea and assessed
value as show n on the last equa lised assessment roll of the County
of San ta Clara , State of Californ ia, in which such territory is
s ituated; a nd
IRNEXAB, the County Bo un dar y Com mis sion of Santa Cla ra County,
Califo rn ia, has a pprove d the pr opose d an nexation bo undaries of said
proper ty;
NOW, TWEREFORZ, be it r esolved by the Coun cil of the City of
Palo Alto;
Section 1. Tha t pursuant to the " Anne xation of Un inhabited
Territory Ac t of 1939" the Co un cil of the City of Palo Alto here by
giv es notice of said proposed annexation.
Section 2. Said territo ry her eby is designa ted for identifi-
ca tion as "Gar den Terrace Annexatio n No. 2".

of 7:30 p. m. of said day, in ,t4a C ouncil Chambers in the City
Ha ll in the City of Palo Alto,. Cou nty of Santa, Clar a, State of
Ca lifo rnia, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and wher e
any perso n owning real property within the uninhabited territory
above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Pal o
Alto an d having any objections to the proposed ann ex ati on may
appear be fore the Council of th e City of Pal o Alt o and show cause
why such unin ha bited terr itory sh ould not be as annexed to s aid
City of Palo Alto. Su ch protest must be in writi ng, may be filed
at any time before the hour set for hearing obje ctions to the
pr oposed anne xation, and shall state the name or names of the ow ner
or owners of pr ope rty a ffe cte d and the description and are a of such
property in gener al terms.
Section 4. The City Cler k of the City of Palo Alto is hereby
autho rize d and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be
published at le ast twice , but no t oftener tha n once a week, in the
Palo A1tp Time s, a newspaper of gener al cir culatio n published in
sa id City of Palo Alto , the city to w hich it is pr opos ed to annex
the afor esaid te rritory, an d a lso in the ,San JoseAgges ey,a newspaper
of genera l cir cu lation pu blished outside the City of Palo Alto but
in the Co unty of Santa Clara, Californ ia, the c ounty in which is
locate d the territor y proposed to be annexe d to the city, said
publication to be comple te at le ant twenty days prior to the date
se t for the hearing.
And the said City Clerk is further a uthor ized and directed to
ca use written notic e of su ch proposed annexa tio n to be mailed to
eac h person to whom land within the territor y proposed to be
ann exed is assesse s in the last equ alize d county assessment roll
available on the d ate the above s aid p ro ceedi ngs w ere initiated,
at the address es alho wn on saifitl#40f4RanC roll or know n to s aid
Cler k, and to any pers on wh o has filed his name and address and
the designation of th e la nds in which he h as an interest, eithe r
le gal or equitable, with said Clerk,'i uch notic e to be given n ot
less tha n twenty days before the first public h eari ng on the p ro-
pose d an ne xation;
And the City Clerk is dice ted to cause writt en notice to be
given to such other persona as may be legally entitled thereto in
the manne r regnired by law.
The abo ve and fo regoing resolution wa s d uly and regul arly
in troduce d and passed at a regula r meting of the Council of the
City of Palo Alto held on Monday, the loth day of D ece mbe r ,1959,
by the following vote:

described line;
BEGINNING at the most Southe rly cor ner of Lot 40, Tract
No. 483, Monroe Subdivision, a map of whi ch w as rec orded
March 15, 1948, in Book 15 of Maps at pages 50 and 51, R ecords
of said County, said corner bein g also the point of int ersecti on
of the Nor thwesterly line of Monroe Drive, 50 fe et wide, with
the Co rpo rate Limits Line of the City of Palo Alto; thence
alon g said Northwe ste rly line N. 19°12' E. 48.47 feet a nd
N. 38° 30' E. 325. 25 fe et to the most Easte rly corner of L ot 35
of sa id Tr act No. 483; then ce N. 5t°30' W. along the North-
