The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in reglar ses-
sion on this date at 8 p.m. ► with Mayor. Cooley raesiding. Roll
call as follows:
Present Congdon, Cooley, Henry, Jordan. Lesley, Miller. Mosher,
Roller, Snyder (H.J.) Snyder (J.0. Swain, Vail.

On motion of Vail and Swain the Mayor was authorized
to. appoint a committee of three to confer with the Southern
Pacific Officials and other parties interested, in regard to
the construction of the Palo Alto avenue subway.
Mayor Cooley, City Attorney Malcolm and City Engineer
Byxbee were named as such committee.

The question of providing regulations for the- control
of dance halls was referred to Committee #2 to report, on motion
of Mosher and Swain.

Attorney E. D. Lakin addressed the Council in the natter
of the application of Joseph Larkin for a. lease of 2i acres in. the
Stanford leased tract for a hotel site. Alfred Seale and Monroe
'homas, representing the Chamber of Commerce. advocated the grant-
ing of such lease.
On motion of Vail and Henry the matter was referred to
Committee #1, the Board of Public Works and the City Planning
Commission to report.

J. F. Parkinson presented to the Council a request that
he be granted a permit to erect a corrugated iron,building in
Block 4. On motion of Jordan and Mosher the matter was referrer •
to Committee #2 to report.

The Mayor reported that the Peninsular Railway Company
has arranged to build a spur track back of the depot on which to
stand its cars, to relieve the traffic congestion on UnivereitY
Avenue.
