The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this date
.at 8 p.m., pursuant to a.dC our.+m..nt of June 25, 1917, Mayor Cooly
presiding. Roll call as follows:
Present: Congdon, Cooley, Henry, Jordan, Miller, Mosher, Petersen
Roller, Snyder, Swain, Thcits, Vail.
Absent: Ackley, Wing,
The minutes of the adjourned meeting of June 25, 1917,
asd of the called meeting of June 29, 1917, were read and approv-
ed as read.
Petition fo
A petition -from B. A. Vining for a permit it • to erect a
porch on the rear of .his building in Block 12 was referred to the
Board of Public Safety.
A report from Committee r1 recommending that a subway bw
constructed at Embarcadero Road on the line of said roadway and -
that plans be made to raise the Southern Pacific tracks at that
point four or five feet was on motion of Vail and Mosher referrer:
to the 'ioard of Public Works.
On motion: of Mosher and Peterson. the following resolu-
tion was passed by unanimous vote:
90Ressolved: That the Council of the City of Pal: Alto co.
press to Mr. Edward Ackley, upon his retirement from memberChip
in this. Council, the sincere appreciation of the members, indivi-
dually and collectively, cf the earnest and faithfu?. -service
which he xias rendered the City during the past six years, and on
behalf of the public tender him the fullest thanks for the able
and public-spirited attitude that has characterized his ter: of
office.
Passed by unanimous vote of the Council this second day
of July, 1917.°
