The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this date at
v p.m-, purauant to a J ournmen t of June 11„ 1917, with Mayor Cool-
ey presiding. Roll call as follows:
Present: Congdon, Cooley, Henry, Jordan, Miller, Mosher, Boiler,
Snyder, Thoits, Wing.
Absent: Ackley, Peterson, Swain, Vail.
The minutes of the regular meet .` of June II, 1917,
were read and approved ae read.

that the Cou cil •make a budget appropriation of $300 for its 1143e .
during the fiscal year 1917 -?918, On motion of Congdon and.Rolle:
the request was referred to Committee #4,

On motion of Moaner and Roller the request of .7 .C.L-Fish
of the Board of Public Safety for leave of absence to September
1, 1917, and of Councilman Wing for leave of absence for one
month were granted.

A letter from Deniston Wood it relation to traffic
congestion on the Circle was or motion of Thoits and Congdon
referred to the Board of Public Safety.
A report was received from the City Planning Cvnnissin
recommending that the Council approve e =ap of Subdivision #5 of
the Seale Tract, together with a suggestion that all buildings
in said trait be set back at least 25 fee,, from the street prop-
erty line,

3. That the Council adopt a resolution restive to a Cbar€e
of grade along Alma Stree. and Palo Alto Avenue:
4. That the Council include in the annual budget for the
fiscal year 1917-1913 an appropriation of 4450 to cover portions
of the outfal1 surer,

On motion of Wing and Mosher the following resolution
inscribed on a map shoring present and proposed curb grades on
Alma Street from Lytton Avenue to Palo Alto aven;:e and on Palo
Alto Avenue from Bryant Street to Alma Street, City of Palo Alto,
California, was adopted by unanimous vote on roll call.:

On motion of Thoits and Mosher the City Clerk was in-
structed to mail a, notice to the State Board of Control that the
City offers said Palo Alto Municipal Gas Bonds for sale.

A motion by -Wing and Miller was passed that notice be
given that subscriptions- to said bond ieeue will be received by
the City Treasurer, subject to the sale to one party of the bonds

1135," was given second reading. Re,preeentat; gyres of the differ-
ent laundries were present and discussed the proposed, ordinance.
- Miller and Mosher moved. the adoption of the ordinance.
W and Mosher made a substitute motion -that the ordinance be
referred back to Committee #2 for report and al. c to report on
the ohangee made in Ordinance #135. The substitute motion was
passed.
Motion ' Abolish L.icenee
Wing and Snyder moved that all trade license taxes be
abolished. The motion was lost on roll call, all prevent voting
no. except Wing and Snyder who voted aye.
A resolution requesting that all the territory in the
incorporated limits of the City of Palo Alto be included in the
PMposed mosquito abatement district to be known as the rMa tadero
Ab tement District was - introduced and read. and on motion of Co ng-
don a nd Mosher was passed by rnar imous ve re on roll call.
