The. Council of then City of Palo Alto met in regular eva-
sion on this date at 8 p.m., with Mayor Cooley presiding, Roll call
as follows: -
Present: Congdon, Cooley, Henry , Yorciar:, `Li +1E'r, Roller, Snyder,
Swain, Thoits, Wing.
Absent: Ackley, ,,Mosher, Peterson, Vail.

A communication from Alice L. Park relative to better
prevention of automobile accidents, was referred to the Board.of
Public Safety.
A communication from the State Railroad Commission in re-

tion of Wing, and Thoita referred to the City Planning Commission.

A report was received from Committee #4 recomrending:
1. That the ordinance providing for the sale of the Palo
Alto Municipal Gas bonds be enacted as submitted by said committee;

Wing Moved that the Council request the Board of Public
Works to proceed with the construction of a subway at Palo Alto
avenue in accordance with aenodification of the eriginel plan, said
modification being shown on a map prepared by the city engineer,
and the motion was seconded by Jordan.
A general discussion followed in which e• o of the
Council and J. R. Slonaker took part.
The motion was passed by the following vote on roll call:
Ayes: Congdon„ Cooley, Ben.ry, Jordan, Roller, Swai:., ' hoite, Wing.
Noes: Miller, Snyder.

On motion of Thoits., duly seconded, the City Attorney was
instructed to get an opinion from Goodfellow, Eels, Moore & Orrick
as to the validity of the Palo Alto Municipal Gas bonds, and the
city clerk was instructed to tsecure estimates on printing or lith-
ographing said bonds; said motion being passed by unanimous vote
en roll call.

structed to call for bids for the purchase of the Palo Alto Muni-
cipal vas Bonds, said bids to be opened on June 25th, 1917, at
