The Council of the City of Palo Alto met an this date at
8 p.m., pursuant to adjournment of September 18, 1916, with `favor
Cooley presiding. Roll call an follows:
Present: Cooley, Cramer, ,henry, Miller, ..os er. Roller,. Thoits,
Vail.
Absent: Ackley, Congdon, Jordan, Petersen, Snyder, Swain, Wing,

x'he report of the City Engineer eo the ebard of Public
works on the advisability of purchasing the holdings of the Palo
Alto Gas company. Vas received from said .aoard, together with a
recommendation from said noard that the City proceed to acquire
said holdings. The report and recommendation were accepted and,
ordered filed.

A 'communication from the City Manning Cormnie lion of the
City of Palo Alto was read, asking th tr e Council authorize
said Commission to expend a sum not exceeding ti50.00 to pay for
the services of a city planning expert, money for said purpose :.av-
ing been appropriated in the budget for t_.is fiscal year. On rsro-
tion of Vail. and W_oeher said expenditure was authorized by unani-
mous vote on roll call.

the City of Palo Alto, the cost of which will be too great to be

An ordinance entitled "An ordinance calling a special
election in the City of Palo Alto for the purpose of submitting
to the voters certain proposed amendments to the freeholders'
charter of said Oity and officially setting forth said amendments
herewith for publication, was given first reading and referred to
Committee k4 on motion of Vail and aosher.
On motion of Vail and ::osher he Council adjourned.
