A resolution from the Board of Public Works, reco_n::;r:d.- ire that the location of the proposed subway be changed from Palo Alto Avenue and Alma Street to Hawthorne Avenue ans Alma Street, was read and accepted. and ordered filed. hearine on Paving Protest. ='r" Snyder, This being the time fixed for hearing protesto against street paving under the Resolution of Intention passed by the City Council on February 28th, 1916, the protest of Fred Whitney nr against paving along his property on Lincoln Avenue in block 88 was read. Mr. Whitney addressed the Council in relation to his objection to having the work done. - On motion of Miller, seconded by Rd-11er, a resolution was passed overruling the objections. filed by Fred Whitney; and find- ing that the objection of J. C. Robinson was not filed within the time required by law and is not an objection to the extent of the district and therefore cannot be considered; and further finding that the, objection of E. P. Delger is nclt an objection to the ex- tent of .the district and. that. the same has been subsequently with- drawn.; n. A report of the City Engineer on the comparative cost of earrowing the paved portions of certain streets and widening the parked spaces was read and discussed at length. On motion of Thoits, seconded by Peterson, the matter was referred to the City Planning Commission to report at the next meeting of the Council. At this time Councilman :ienry took his seat. On mot on of Miller and Peterson the attention of Board of Public Safety was called to the need of regulating traffic on the Circle. the As to Traffic SjAns. Councilman Ackley criticised the apnecrance of. the traffic signs placed at street intersections and moved that the matter of designing more attractive signs and furnishing an es- timate of their cost be referred to the Planning Co:inission and the City Engineer. The motion was seconded by Cooley and passed by the following vote on roll call: Ayes: Ackley, Cooley, Miller, Peterson, Roller. Noes: Congdon, henry, Jordan, Thoits. Not Voting: Swain. Subway Investigation. Jordan moved that the Mayor, the City Attorney and the City Engineer be made a committee to+ investigate the proposed change4 of location for the subway and to confer with the County. Supervisors, tape Stanford University Trustees, the Southern Pac- ific Company. and Mrs. Loretta B. hart in reference to 'said cha-;ge. The motion was seconded by Miller and passed.
