The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this date
at 8 p.m., pursuant to the following call:
'Palo Alto, Cal. March 23, L916 at. 10
4A meeting of the Council of the City of Palo Alto is called for

claim of Mr.. I:. G. Barker ;agaanet the City of Palo Alto for
Mdamages, and to transact such other business as may come before

Mayor Swain ';presided and rail call was as follows:

The -Mayor stated that in accowdsnce with a motion pass-
ed at the meeting held .can March 13th, 1916, authorizing a com
eittee compri ins himeelf and two members to be appointed by
his to confer with Mr. Be G. Harker. in regard to a damage clams
filed by him against the city, he had named Councilmen Jordan
and- Thoits. He asked Chairman Jordan to report.
Committee of the Whole.
Jordan moved that the Council resolve iteelf into a
committee of the whole. The motion was seconded by Ackley and
paesed.
Vail moved that the committee do now rise and the
Council convene. The motion was seconded by Ackley and passed.

power to act.. - The- motion was seconded by Snyder and passed by

Vail and Ackley moved. that the Auditor be authorized to
draw a warrant as requested. The motion was lost by the follow-
ing vote orz roll call: •
Ayes: Ackley, Cooley, Henry, Miller, Roller, Snyder, Vail,
Noes: Jordan, Swain, Thoits, wing.
Vail and Ackley moved that the )~ratter be referred to a
committee to be 'appointed by the Mayor, to investigate and re-
port at the next- meeting of . the- Council and the motion eels passed.
The Mayor appointed Councilman Ackley, Cooley and Snyder
