The Council. of ethe City of Palo A1tc met in regular ses-
sion on this date -at 5 p.m., with Mayor Swain presiding. Roll
call as follows:
Present: Ackley, Cooley, Cramer., Henry, Jordan, _ llerr Mosher,
Roller, Snyder, Swain, Vail.
Absent: Congdon, Peterson, Thoits, Wing.
The minutes of the regular meetinri, of October 11, 19�5,
were read and approved as read.

An application was received from the Shell
the lease of 100 x 100 feet at ,Jr.iversity avenue and
:.ighway for a public filling station.
Vail and• Moaner moved that the application
to the Board of Public Works with favorable recommendation.
The motion was passed by the following vote on roll call:
Ayes: Ackley, Cramer, Jordan, Mosher, Roller, Swein, bail.
Noes: Cooley, Henry, Miller, Snyder.

Chairman Mosher of Committee #1 reported as follows'
Recommending the improvement of certain streets as shown in the
revised revolution 'of the Board of Public Works; recommending
•the enactment of an ordinance amending Ordinance #71; and re -
emending that the water -bills of Downin • & Son for the post
office building for Septerber.1915. ($44.35) and for October
1515, ($8'.05) be rebated, except a3 to the amo un„ of the aver-
age monthly. bills.

On .Notion of Vail and Roller the water -bills of Loan-
ing & Son were ordered to be rebated, as recommended by Com-
mittee #l, by unanimous vote on roll call, on condition that
Downing & Son make necessary sidewalk repairs.
Public Health reek --Potion e_ errd.
A report was received from the Board of Public Safety -
approving .the recommendation of the health Officer that a Public
HealthWeek be held in February. On motion of Jcrd.an and -k'ckley
the matter was referred back to the Board of Public Safety to re-
port on the :,Weans of financing such week.

Committee #2recornended the enactment of an ordinance
as revised regulating the ,keeping of poultry and animals, and
that further consideration be given an ord:.nencc regulating
vehicles.

Supervisor Mitchell and. Assistant District Attorney Coolidge

way to the state -highway -reported that such conference had been

everything would be in readiness to build the subway in the

On motion of Mosher and Snyder the City Attorney was in-
structed to secure from the Railroad Co7.4mission the necessary
extension of time (one year for the completion of the subway.

nance adopting the same were read and referred to Committee#1.
T. G. ?Hughes of Warren Bros. addressed the Council O:rnf`i:, in
regard to bi tt;lithic 'pavement. The matter was referred to Com-
mittee #1.

A resolution from the Board of Public Works recom<.^.endici
the paving of certain str4ts and a resolution. of intention to
pave said streets were r ec1ved and were laid over for later ac-
tion.

Onemation of Ac .ley and Snyder the City Attorney was
instructed to publish a notice relating to the construction of
curbs under private contract, wirhin a specified time► by unan-
imous vote on roll call.

Ordinance #127, entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the
Keeping of poultry and Animals," was even second reading.
On motion of Cooley and ..tiller the ordinance was amended by
striking out in subdivision 4 of section 1 the words, "the doors
or ;windows of."
On motion of Vail and Snyder section 2 was amended by
changing the maximum amount of the fine from twenty-five dollars
to thirty dollars.
On notion of Vail and Mosher the Ordinance as amended
was passed by unanimous vote on roll call.

A report was submitted by the Ciey Engineer and City
Electrician showing plans and cost of lighting 1.7niversity Avenue
from the Circle to the State highway. -On motion of Mosher and
Vail the matter was referred to Committee #1 to confer with the
County 0ffi.:ials in regard to meeting .'e.e cost of such lighting.

A report submitted by the City Engineer releeing to
sidewalk repairs was referred to Committee #1.

As to Pastin.o- Bills.

Councilmen Cooley presented the request of the State
Highway authorities that the city cooperate with them -in a move-
ment to prevent the posting of bills on fences and buildings a-
long tte city front. On motion of. Cooley and Ackley the matter
eras referred to 'the Board of Public Works.
The.matter of posting bills in the city was referred to
the City Attorney to report.
As to Stanforu Lease.
Councilman Snyder moved that circulars and cards for
an expression of opinion be mailed to voters to determine whether
the citizens favor holding or abrogating the lease of Stanford
property. The motion received no second.
On motion of Vail and Mosher the Cour:cil adjourned.
